Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Preparer/Reviwer with 38 years of hands-on experience in preparing U.S. tax returns. The ideal candidate will have strong technical proficiency, a solid understanding of U.S. tax regulations, and the ability to accurately prepare individual and business tax filings. This role requires excellent analytical skills, strong communication abilities, and the capability to meet strict deadlines during peak tax season.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review U.S. individual tax returns (Form 1040)this will constitute the majority of the work.
- Prepare and assist with business tax returns, including:
- Form 1120 (C Corporations)
- Form 1120S (S Corporations)
- Form 1065 (Partnerships)
- Ensure all returns comply with federal, state, and local tax laws and filing requirements.
- Gather and organize financial information from clients, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Identify potential tax credits, deductions, and benefits to minimize clients tax liability.
- Communicate with clients regarding missing information, clarification of details, and tax-related inquiries.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information at all times.
- Stay updated on tax law changes and IRS regulations.
- Work collaboratively with the tax team to ensure timely and accurate filing of returns.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
1. Tax Preparation Reviwer Experience
Hands-on experience preparing U.S. tax returns, especially:
- Form 1040 (Individual Returns) primary focus of this role
- Exposure to 1120, 1120S, and 1065 returns; full proficiency is an advantage but not mandatory.
2. Technical Proficiency
Proficiency in using mainstream U.S. tax preparation software, including:
- CCH Axcess
- ProSeries
- Drake Tax Software
3. Additional Competencies
- Strong understanding of U.S. federal and state tax regulations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
