Job Title: AVP - Property Underwriting SME.

Location: Ahmedabad.

Role Overview:


The AVP - Property Underwriting will lead and manage the underwriting function for SME property insurance proposals in the Ahmedabad region.

The role involves risk assessment, pricing, policy issuance, and portfolio management, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and regulatory norms.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Evaluation & Underwriting:


- Assess property risks for SME clients including fire, burglary, engineering, and allied perils.

- Analyze proposals, conduct site inspections (as needed), and determine appropriate coverage and pricing.

- Ensure underwriting decisions align with company guidelines and reinsurance treaties.

Portfolio Management:


- Monitor and manage the profitability of the SME property portfolio.

- Identify trends, loss ratios, and recommend corrective actions to improve underwriting performance.

Stakeholder Collaboration:


- Work closely with sales, claims, and reinsurance teams to ensure seamless policy issuance and servicing.

- Support channel partners and intermediaries with technical underwriting inputs.

Compliance & Documentation:


- Ensure all underwriting documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready.

- Stay updated with IRDAI regulations and internal compliance requirements.

Team Leadership & Development:


- Mentor junior underwriters and support staff.

- Conduct training sessions to enhance underwriting capabilities within the team.

Qualifications & Experience:


- Graduate/Postgraduate in Insurance, Risk Management, or related field.

- Minimum 8-10 years of experience in property underwriting, preferably in SME segment.

- Strong knowledge of fire, engineering, and allied lines of business.

- Familiarity with underwriting tools, risk inspection processes, and regulatory norms.

Skills & Competencies:


- Analytical mindset with strong decision-making ability.

- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

- Proficiency in MS Office and underwriting software.

- Ability to work independently and manage regional underwriting operations.
