Key Responsibilities:
Safety Strategy & Governance:
- Define and implement the organization-wide safety strategy, policies, and standards
- Establish safety governance frameworks aligned with statutory, regulatory, and industry standards
- Drive leadership commitment and accountability for safety across all levels
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and national safety laws and regulations
- Identify workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments and safety audits
- Develop and monitor corrective and preventive action plans
- Lead internal and external safety audits and inspections
Operational Safety Management:
- Oversee safety implementation across projects, plants, offices, and field operations
- Ensure safety controls for working at height, electrical safety, confined spaces, lifting operations, and equipment handling
- Monitor contractor and vendor safety compliance
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis (RCA), and closure of corrective actions
Training & Safety Culture:
- Design and implement safety training programs, inductions, and certification processes
- Drive behavior-based safety (BBS) and safety awareness initiatives
- Promote a strong safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership programs
Crisis & Emergency Management:
- Develop and maintain emergency response and crisis management plans
- Conduct mock drills and ensure preparedness for accidents, fire, and natural disasters
- Act as the escalation authority during safety incidents and emergencies
Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
- Track and report safety KPIs, including incident rates, near misses, audits, and compliance metrics
- Present safety performance reports to senior management and leadership forums
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using data and industry best practices
Stakeholder Management:
- Work closely with operations, projects, HR, legal, and leadership teams
- Liaise with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and external auditors
- Represent the organization in industry forums and safety committees
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 12-20+ years of experience in Safety / HSE leadership roles
- Strong knowledge of occupational health & safety laws, standards, and best practices
- Proven experience managing safety across large, distributed or high-risk operations
- Expertise in conducting audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence senior leadership and drive cultural change
