Role Overview:
This role will lead the overall strategy, growth, profitability, and operational excellence of the respective category at Tata CLiQ. This senior leadership role carries full P&L ownership and responsibility for assortment planning, vendor and brand partnerships, customer experience, marketing, and operational efficiency. The position demands a data-driven, entrepreneurial leader who can collaborate cross-functionally to achieve scalable and sustainable growth while strengthening Tata CLiQ.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Ownership & P&L Management:
- Define and execute the category vision, strategy, and annual business plans aligned with organizational objectives.
- Own and manage category P&L ensuring achievement of revenue, margin, and profitability goals.
- Analyse customer insights, market dynamics, and competition to inform strategic decisions.
Assortment & Vendor Management:
- Lead assortment planning to deliver a competitive, relevant, and differentiated catalogue across sub-categories and brands.
- Build, nurture, and scale vendor and brand partnerships to expand category portfolio.
- Lead negotiations on pricing, margins, and commercial terms to optimize profitability.
Customer Experience & Operations:
- Identify and address customer pain points across online and omnichannel journeys.
- Partner with operations, logistics, customer service, and finance to ensure seamless order fulfilment, inventory management, and cost efficiency.
- Drive customer satisfaction by reducing returns, cancellations, and operational issues.
Marketing & Demand Generation:
- Develop and implement category-specific marketing calendars including promotions, events, and joint brand campaigns.
- Collaborate with growth and marketing teams to drive traffic, conversion, and repeat purchases in the category.
- Use analytics and insights to optimize marketing ROI and campaign effectiveness.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performance category management team.
- Partner with product, analytics, technology, and leadership teams to deliver category initiatives.
- Represent the category in leadership forums with compelling data-backed insights and recommendations.
Must-Have Skills & Qualifications:
- MBA or equivalent degree from a top-tier institution.
- 10+ years of experience in category management or commercial leadership roles, preferably in e-commerce or retail.
- Proven experience managing P&L for large, complex categories.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with proficiency in Excel, SQL, or BI tools.
- Expertise in vendor negotiations, assortment planning, and omnichannel retail execution.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with ability to drive collaboration and inspire teams.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Prior experience in luxury, beauty, or lifestyle retail categories.
- Exposure to global retail or e-commerce practices and innovations.
- Strong knowledge of consumer behaviors and customer lifecycle management.
- Ability to drive large-scale transformation initiatives across category operations.
