Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially astute Cost Accountant / Chartered Accountant to join our finance team. This role is pivotal in managing product costing, inventory valuation, and vendor cost structures across our garment manufacturing and trading operations. The ideal candidate will also play a key role in vendor negotiations, compliance alignment, and strategic sourcing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Costing & Analysis:
- Prepare and update product cost sheets, including fabric, trims, labor, overheads, and logistics.
- Analyze cost variances and recommend corrective actions to improve cost efficiency.
- Support pricing decisions with accurate cost simulations and margin analysis.
Inventory & Production Accounting:
- Monitor inventory movements and reconcile physical vs. book stock.
- Conduct periodic stock audits and support inventory valuation for monthly and annual closing.
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist in preparing annual budgets and rolling forecasts with cost benchmarks.
- Provide cost insights for new product development and sourcing strategies.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Ensure adherence to internal controls, cost accounting standards, and statutory requirements.
- Prepare cost-related MIS reports and dashboards for management review.
Vendor Management & Compliance:
- Lead cost negotiations with fabric, trims, and service vendors to optimize procurement costs.
- Prioritize engagement with Non-MSME vendors to align with company procurement strategy.
- Assist MSME vendors in transitioning to Non-MSME status, including documentation and registration support.
- Ensure vendor compliance with applicable tax, regulatory, and payment norms.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities across procurement, production, and logistics.
- Recommend process enhancements to improve cost visibility, control, and reporting accuracy.
Education: CA / CMA / MBA (Finance) or equivalent qualification.
Experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, preferably in garment/textile manufacturing or trading.
Soft Skills:
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to work cross-functionally and manage vendor relationships effectively.
