Supply Chain Specialist - Retail

Responsibilities:

- Lead the selection, onboarding, and performance management of transport vendors, ensuring optimal truck availability across operating locations.

- Drive fleet optimization through route planning, triangulation, and network rationalization to improve cost and service efficiency.

- Ensure full compliance with statutory, safety, and contractual requirements; monitor transporter performance and proactively address escalations.

- Plan and execute daily logistics operations, including PO scheduling, vehicle docking as per FIFO, and closure of all planned movements without backlog.

- Manage end-to-end operational issues such as loading and unloading delays, decantation challenges, in-transit disruptions, accidents, diversions, and terminal-level exceptions.

- Handle off-spec material, quality and quantity (Q&Q) discrepancies, and Proof of Delivery (POD) issues, ensuring timely resolution and escalation where required.

- Ensure 100% and timely POD closure in line with defined SLAs and operational plans.

- Coordinate reverse logistics and inter-location pickups to maintain seamless material flow and minimize empty miles.

- Prepare, analyze, and publish daily, weekly, and monthly logistics MIS reports, highlighting key performance trends and improvement opportunities.

- Collaborate closely with sales, terminals, transporters, and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth operations and resolve disputes effectively.

- Support EXIM-related logistics operations, including documentation coordination and compliance, where applicable.

- Assist safety and head-office logistics teams in incident and accident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.

- Manage marine insurance documentation and facilitate claim settlement and dispute closures.

- Monitor daily and monthly performance of Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) and present actionable insights to the central logistics team for continuous improvement.

- Ensure zero dry-outs or suppressed sales for key accounts due to logistics or scheduling inefficiencies.

- Drive process improvements and logistics network optimization using logistics SaaS platforms (e.g., CLICKPOST or similar tools).

- Develop and execute contingency plans to mitigate risks arising from transport disruptions, capacity constraints, or operational emergencies.

- Lead freight and transportation (F&T) negotiations with logistics managers and vendors to achieve optimal cost-service balance.

Skills & Experience Required:

- 4-7 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, transportation, or distribution operations.

- Strong hands-on experience in transporter management, freight negotiations, and last-mile logistics coordination.

- Working knowledge of logistics compliance, safety standards, and operational KPIs.

- Proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets for data analysis, MIS reporting, and performance tracking.

- Experience with logistics technology platforms or SaaS-based transport management tools.

- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to work cross-functionally.

- Strong communication skills, including professional email writing and verbal coordination.

- High attention to detail, problem-solving mindset, and ability to manage complex, time-sensitive operations.
