The Business Finance Partner acts as the financial co-pilot to Category, Growth, Supply Chain, and Customer Support teams-driving profitability, optimizing commercial decisions, and ensuring disciplined execution across revenue, margins, spends, and working capital. This role blends FP&A, commercial finance, business partnering, and strategic decision support for a fast-scaling e-commerce marketplace.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Revenue & Margin Ownership
- Drive sourcing margin, net margin, and cohort/repeat profitability analysis
- Evaluate brand deals, margin structures, turnover support, ad-monetization, discount planning
- Partner with Category teams for pricing, promotions, deal structures, and laddering
- Build and improve contribution margin (CM1/CM2/CM3) visibility for weekly/monthly reviews
2. FP&A and Business Planning
- Lead monthly MIS, budgeting, forecasting (incl. category-wise, channel-wise, and contribution margin forecasts)
- Build models for AOV, conversion rates, repeat cohorts, category mix, CAC-LTV, and funnel metrics
- Develop forward-looking variance analysis with actionable insights
3. Cost & Spend Governance
- Track and own performance marketing ROI with Growth teams
- Build guardrails for promo spends, category discounts & performance marketing efficiency
- Partner with Ops & Supply Chain to drive fulfilment cost optimisation (warehouse, dark stores, last mile)
4. Commercial Decision Support
- Run business cases for new categories, brands, geographies, stores, and capex
- Analyse assortment, ABC-XYZ mix, SLA impact on cancellations, and lost sales implications
- Assess unit economics at brand, category, cohort, order and region level
5. Working Capital & Cashflow Management
- Drive inventory turns, reduce ageing & at-risk inventory
- Partner on procurement cycles, MOQ decisions, replenishment efficiency
- Optimise credit cycles with brands and improve payables/receivables efficiency
6. Cross-Functional Partnering
- Work closely with Category, Growth, SCM, CX, Tech, and Leadership
- Bring financial discipline into operational decisions while enabling growth
- Create clear dashboards, weekly trackers, and insight notes for leadership
7. Strategic Projects
- Lead automation of finance ops dashboards (PowerBI/Tableau/GSheets)
- Build profitability frameworks for tentpole campaigns & NPI launches
- Drive special projects (pricing engines, demand forecasting inputs, inventory ordering logic, etc.)
Qualifications & Experience:
- CA/CFA/MBA Finance with 2-4 years in business finance / FP&A / commercial finance
- Experience in e-commerce, retail, FMCG, marketplace, D2C or high-growth startups preferred
- Strong modelling skills (Excel, Sheets); BI tools preferred
- Deep understanding of unit economics, funnels, cohorts, supply chain metrics
- Strong stakeholder management & ability to influence without authority
