The Role:
The Financial Controller will build and own the financial control architecture of SuperK designing systems, processes, and governance required to scale a 1000-store retail business.
You will drive reporting excellence, enforce control discipline across a distributed network, and build a finance backbone that enables high-speed, high-quality decision-making.
You will work closely with leadership on governance, board reporting, and building a finance function that is audit-ready, scalable, and institutionally strong from day one.
Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Close Discipline
- Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close
- Deliver accurate, timely, and decision-useful financials
- Ensure integrity of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow
- Institutionalize strong reconciliation and closing processes
- Ensure full compliance with Ind AS and statutory requirements
2. Retail Accounting Architecture
- Design and govern accounting frameworks for a scaled retail network:
- FOFO franchise economics and settlements
- COCO store financials
- Warehouse and inventory accounting
- Store-level profitability and unit economics
- Trade promotions, schemes, and discounts
- Franchise commissions and incentives
- Multi-level financial visibility (store/ cluster/ company)
3. Internal Controls & Governance
- Build and institutionalize a robust IFC framework
- Drive control discipline across stores, warehouses, and HO
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks
- Establish SOPs, audit trails, and process documentation
- Ensure a continuously audit-ready environment
4. Audit & Regulatory Compliance
- Lead statutory, internal, and tax audits
- Manage auditor and advisor relationships
- Ensure compliance across GST, Companies Act, and other regulations
- Drive timely closure of audit observations
5. Finance Operations Excellence
- Own and elevate core finance operations:
- Accounts Payable and Receivable
- General Ledger and close processes
- Inventory accounting
- Store and warehouse finance workflows
- Drive standardisation, automation, and efficiency at scale.
6. Systems, Data & Automation
- Strengthen ERP and finance systems architecture
- Improve data integrity and reporting reliability
- Build scalable MIS and reconciliation frameworks
- Identify and implement automation opportunities across finance
What We Are Looking For:
Qualification
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 6 to 8 years of Post-Qualification experience.
Experience
- Strong experience in controllership, financial reporting, and audits
- Exposure to Retail, FMCG, or multi-location businesses preferred
- Experience in high-growth or scale environments is a strong advantage
- Strong command over accounting and financial reporting
- Deep understanding of internal controls
- Ability to design scalable finance processes
- High ownership with sharp attention to detail
- Structured thinking and strong analytical ability
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving environment
