Chief Operating Officer - Job Description:

Role summary:

The Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of SunAct Cancer Institute, ensuring efficient, compliant, and patient-centric delivery of clinical care and clinical trials.

This role requires a high-impact healthcare leader capable of scaling hospital operations, streamlining clinical workflows, optimizing capacity utilization, and ensuring strict adherence to NABH/JCI standards.

Key responsibilities:

- Oversee end-to-end hospital and institute operations, including IPD/OPD services, diagnostics, and specialty clinics.

- Establish and monitor KPIs for bed utilization, turnaround times, and patient satisfaction.

- Partner with the CEO to drive revenue growth and manage operational expenditure.

- Identify and drive operational efficiency and cost-optimization initiatives.

- Ensure compliance with NABH/NABL, biosafety, and applicable statutory requirements.

- Lead expansion plans, facility upgrades, and the procurement/commissioning of advanced oncology technology.

- Foster a culture of accountability, patient safety, and continuous improvement across teams.

- Drive digital transformation and process standardization across the institute.

- Build, mentor, and retain high-performing teams across operations, nursing administration, front-office, and allied health services.

Criteria:

- MBA/MHA or equivalent postgraduate qualification.

- Medical background (MBBS/MD) with management training is a plus.

- 10 to 15 years of healthcare operations leadership experience.

- At least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

- Prior experience in oncology or specialty healthcare institutions strongly preferred.

- In-depth knowledge of NABH standards, AERB guidelines, and statutory compliances.

- Proven track record in P&L ownership, budgeting, and operational KPI management.

- Ability to work across clinicians, researchers, administrators, and Board members.

- Strong crisis management, problem-solving, and change management capabilities.

Location & working:

- Location: Thane, with occasional travel to Khar.

- 6 days working.
