Job Description :

Purpose of the position

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation's Project Finance team is looking to hire for its Mumbai office to assist the senior managers in originating and executing project finance transactions in India. The Project Finance team provides arranging and advisory solutions across various sectors including Renewables, Infrastructure (including Digital Infrastructure), New Energies and Mining & Metals

Background

- The candidate is expected to cover the India region for structured finance/ project finance business across the sectors including power and renewables, infrastructure (including digital infra), new energy space.

- The candidate is expected to assist in the origination and execution of structured finance/ project finance transactions and contribute to the annual budgets set for the team.

- The candidate will interact with internal stakeholders including corporate banking RMs, treasury and structuring solutions team, credit department, planning department etc.

- The candidate is expected to interact with external stakeholders including client teams, law firm associates, 3rd party consultants/advisors and industry experts.

Reporting and Position in the organisation

This position is at AVP level reporting to ED within the SFDA chain. The candidate will closely work with deal team principals ( VP/Director/EDs) to originate and execute the transactions.

Scope and Dimension

Geographical/Functional coverage: India

Main interfaces/relationships, key stakeholders: Clients, Credit, deal team members, 3rd party advisors, Law firms.

At one given time, the candidate is expected to manage 4-6 transactions at various stages of origination/execution.

Job Responsibilities

Assist in origination of transactions which would entail :

- Preparation of marketing materials

- Preparation of financial proposals including term sheets and/or presentations

- Running internal grading and pricing simulations

- Preparation of deal memos for seeking internal management sign-off.

Assist in transaction execution which would entail :

- Preparation of credit paper

- Build, review & run sensitivities on financial model/cash flow

- All aspects of administration & execution of transactions until drawdown

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

Education - CA/MBA

Knowledge: Good written and verbal communications skills

Experience:

- Total : 3-7 years, At least 2-3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in banking and/or project / structured finance

- Experience in renewables and/or infrastructure would be viewed favorably

- Strong financial modelling and PowerPoint presentation skills

- Skills-Ability to work independently on jobs assigned

- Positive personality with strong work ethics

- Independent, self-motivated and strong team player with ability to work in multicultural team
