Role Overview:

The Data Center Mechanical SME will serve as the technical expert for mechanical infrastructure in mission-critical data centers. The role focuses on designing, optimizing, and validating HVAC, cooling, ventilation, and thermal management systems to ensure maximum uptime, energy efficiency, scalability, and compliance with industry standards while supporting Vertiv's data center solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design and optimize HVAC, CRAC/CRAH, chilled water, DX cooling, and ventilation systems for data centers.

- Develop mechanical layouts, equipment sizing, airflow models, piping schematics, and design documentation using AutoCAD, Revit, Trane TRACE, Carrier HAP, or similar tools.

- Integrate Vertiv Liebert cooling solutions into scalable data center infrastructure.

- Perform thermal load calculations, airflow analysis, CFD interpretation, cooling capacity planning, and energy optimization.

- Collaborate with Electrical, Structural, Solution Architecture, Project Delivery, and Commissioning teams.

- Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, NFPA, Uptime Institute, TIA, and other applicable standards.

- Conduct commissioning support, performance validation, audits, inspections, and root cause analysis.

- Identify cooling risks, thermal hotspots, equipment failures, and implement mitigation strategies.

- Prepare technical documentation, design reports, as-built drawings, maintenance manuals, and upgrade recommendations.

- Mentor engineering teams and provide technical guidance on data center mechanical best practices.

Additional Notes:

- Data center mechanical experience is mandatory.

- Hands-on expertise with CRAC/CRAH, chilled water systems, thermal management, and airflow optimization is critical.

- Prior experience with Vertiv Liebert cooling products is highly preferred; equivalent experience from competing OEMs may be considered.

- Strong knowledge of ASHRAE TC 9.9, NFPA, and mission-critical cooling standards is expected.

- Candidate should have experience supporting large-scale greenfield or brownfield data center projects.

- Customer-facing, commissioning, or solution engineering experience will be an added advantage.

- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and stakeholder management skills are essential.
