Strive Partners is hiring for an economist for an Agritech based out of Chennai, having offices across India, Dubai, Bangladesh, Singapore and Srilanka.

Position - Economist

Location - Chennai

Job Overview:

The role drives global supply-demand intelligence across major agricultural commodities and serves as the analytical backbone for the trading desk-building forecasting models, tracking market drivers, supporting trade decisions, and collaborating with product/data teams to create actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities:

- Build and refresh weekly global S&D models across key commodities.

- Track crop conditions, arrivals, weather impact, and harvest timelines.

- Monitor trade flows, export trends, policies, currency movements, and freight markets.

- Run daily MTM and maintain accurate valuation frameworks.

- Provide data-backed trade insights and thesis notes for traders.

- Produce research content, market briefs, and support investor updates.

- Collaborate with product and data teams to strengthen intelligence systems.

Required Skills & Experience:

- Degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Statistics, Econometrics, or Finance.

- 3-8 years' experience in commodity research, S&D modelling, trade flow analysis, or macro/FX research.

- Strong analytical abilities and excellent writing skills.

- Exposure to agri-commodities in Asia or Africa (preferred).

- Knowledge of logistics, shipping, customs, and freight markets (preferred).

- Experience in firms like Olam, LDC, Wilmar, Rabobank, CMIE, IGC, USDA/ERS is a plus.
