Role Overview
As a Payments Operations Analyst at StockX, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing end-to-end payment operations across global markets.
This role sits at the intersection of finance, risk, fraud, engineering, and customer experience, ensuring payment accuracy, operational integrity, and seamless transaction flows.
You will own day-to-day payment operations, drive issue resolution, analyze performance metrics, and partner cross-functionally to deliver scalable process improvements.
This is a high-impact role contributing directly to platform trust, financial accuracy, and customer satisfaction in a fast-growing global marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
Payments Operations & Execution
- Oversee and support daily payment operations across multiple providers, regions, and payment methods, including authorization, settlement, refunds, and chargebacks.
- Monitor transaction flows and proactively identify payment failures, delays, discrepancies, or reconciliation issues across systems.
- Ensure operational accuracy and compliance across payment processing and financial reporting workflows.
Issue Resolution & Stakeholder Management
- Act as a primary point of contact for payment-related escalations and incidents.
- Partner closely with Engineering, Finance, Fraud, Customer Support, Treasury, Accounting, Legal, and Compliance teams to investigate root causes and drive timely resolution.
- Serve as a key liaison with external payment service providers (PSPs) to align on performance, incident management, and operational improvements.
Analytics, Reporting & Insights
- Track, analyze, and report on key payment KPIs, including:
- Authorization and success rates
- Chargeback and fraud trends
- Refund volumes and processing times
- Payment performance by geography and method
- Use data insights to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities across the payment ecosystem.
Process Improvement & Optimization
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives by reviewing existing payment workflows and identifying inefficiencies, risks, and cost drivers.
- Propose and implement scalable solutions to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and execution.
- Support payment cost optimization by analyzing processing fees, routing decisions, and payment mix in partnership with Finance and Product teams.
Cross-Functional & Strategic Support
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Compliance teams on new payment launches, enhancements, and regulatory initiatives.
- Contribute to documentation, SOPs, and operational playbooks to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Support global payment expansion and regional compliance requirements, particularly across U. and EU markets.
Required Qualifications
- 2-4+ years of experience in payments operations, financial operations, treasury, risk, or related roles within e-commerce, marketplaces, or fintech environments.
- Strong understanding of payment methods and flows, including cards, digital wallets, bank transfers, and lifecycle stages (authorization, capture, settlement, refunds).
- Hands-on experience with leading payment service providers such as Adyen, Stripe, Braintree, or PayPal.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel / Google Sheets; working knowledge of SQL or BI tools (Looker, Tableau, etc.) preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong process-oriented and analytical mindset.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
