To lead and manage all commercial, contractual, claims-related activities & Procurement across thermal/gas/oil power/renewable energy projects, ensuring risk mitigation, contract compliance, cost control, and maximization of project profitability throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Contract Management
- Lead pre-award and post-award contract management for thermal power projects (coal, gas, captive, supercritical/ultra-supercritical).
- Review, negotiate, and finalize O&M, EPC, BOP, OEM, fuel supply, and service contracts.
- Ensure contracts align with company risk, commercial, and legal policies.
- Interpret contract terms and provide guidance to project and execution teams.
2. Commercial Management
- Develop and control project budgets, cost estimates, and cash flow forecasts.
- Monitor billing, revenue recognition, variation orders, escalation, LDs, and penalties.
- Ensure timely invoicing, certification, and collections from clients.
- Manage price adjustment mechanisms (fuel, forex, indexation, taxes & duties).
3. Claims & Dispute Resolution
- Identify contractual risks and opportunities proactively.
- Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate claims, counter-claims, and change orders.
- Lead dispute resolution through amicable settlement, arbitration, or litigation (with legal teams).
- Maintain proper contractual documentation and correspondence.
4. Tendering & Bidding Support
- Support business development during tender evaluation, bid strategy, and commercial submissions.
- Review tender conditions, payment terms, guarantees, liquidated damages, and risk allocation.
- Provide commercial inputs for bid pricing and contract deviations.
5. Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory, and contractual obligations.
- Coordinate with finance, legal, procurement, and project teams.
- Implement best practices in contract administration and documentation.
6. Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of commercial and contract professionals.
- Build standardized processes, templates, and SOPs for contract management.
- Conduct performance reviews and capability development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Civil preferred)
- MBA / PGDM in Commercial / Procurement / Material Management (or) LLB (preferred)
- Certifications in Contract Management - desirable
Experience:
- 18-25+ years of experience in commercial & contract / Procurement management
- Minimum 10+ years in thermal/gas/oil/renewable energy power projects (O&M / EPC / IPP / utility environment)
- Strong exposure to large-scale power projects (300 MW and above)
Key Skills & Competencies:
- Contract negotiation & drafting
