Role Overview
The Head - Scientific Services will lead the strategic development and operational delivery of Springer Healthcare India's Medical Communications Services business.
- This role requires a dynamic leader with a strong entrepreneurial mindset, deep expertise in MedComms, strong commercial acumen and the ability to build and scale a high-performing team.
- The ideal candidate will combine hands-on execution with strategic vision, leveraging industry networks, driving service innovation, and engaging with clients to deliver strategic value across the pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device industries.
Key Responsibilities
Business Leadership:
- Define and execute the strategy for Medical Communications Services in India.
- Drive P&L accountability, revenue growth, and profitability for the Services division.
Team Management:
- Build, mentor, and lead a large, multidisciplinary team (medical writers, account managers, digital specialists).
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and client-centricity.
Client Engagement & Networking:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders in pharma and healthcare.
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic counsel on medical communications and digital engagement.
Service Innovation:
- Expand service offerings across medical education, scientific content, digital solutions, and omnichannel engagement.
- Ensure integration of cutting-edge digital tools and platforms in service delivery.
Operational Excellence
- Ensure delivery of high-quality, compliant, and scientifically accurate content and services.
- Implement scalable processes and KPIs to monitor performance and client satisfaction.
Collaboration & Integration
- Work closely with the Reprints/Curated Content team to ensure synergy and cross-sell opportunities.
- Collaborate with global Springer Healthcare teams to leverage best practices and global capabilities.
Required Experience & Skills:
Experience:
- 15+ years in medical communications or healthcare marketing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven track record of scaling MedComms services within an agency or healthcare communications environment.
- Experience managing large teams and complex projects across multiple therapy areas.
Expertise:
- Deep understanding of Medical Affairs, scientific communications, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong digital acumen, including experience with omnichannel strategies and digital engagement platforms.
Leadership & Networking:
- Well-networked within the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry in India.
- Demonstrated ability to engage in strategic conversations with Medaffairs team.
Mindset:
- Entrepreneurial, hands-on, and results-driven with a passion for innovation and client success.
Qualifications - Master's degree in business, Life Sciences, or a related field
