Job Description:
Position Title: Learning & Development Specialist
Location: Chennai, India
Role Summary:
The Learning and Development (L&D) Specialist is responsible for enhancing the knowledge base and skills of all employees within the org. This role involves assessing training needs, designing curriculum, delivering training sessions, collaborating with training vendors and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs. The specialist will play a critical role in establishing a strong learning culture and fostering a capability development mindset from Day 1, while also leading mandatory and compliance-related trainings to ensure organizational readiness and regulatory alignment.
Key Responsibilities:
Learning Needs Analysis:
- Conduct skills gap analyses to identify current and future capability needs across teams within the GCC, aligning learning initiatives with organizational goals.
- Partner with business unit heads and leadership to assess, prioritize, and address developmental needs through targeted training and upskilling strategies.
Learning Program Design & Development:
- Design and deliver learning programs that address both organizational goals and individual development needs.
- Develop structured curricula aligned with the org objectives and employee career paths.
- Incorporate varied learning methods, such as gamification and microlearning, to suit different learning styles.
- Create and customize course materials, including digital content, manuals, and interactive tools.
- Work with subject matter experts to ensure content is accurate, practical, and aligned with current business needs.
- Manage program logistics, including scheduling, venues, and materials, to ensure smooth execution.
- Define clear learning objectives and outcomes for all training initiatives to measure impact and effectiveness.
Learning Delivery:
- Facilitate sessions using a variety of instructional techniques and formats such as individual training, group instruction, lectures, demonstrations, conferences, meetings, and workshops.
- Adapt learning methods and materials to suit the audience's level of comprehension and experience.
- Adapt training delivery based on real-time feedback and participant engagement during sessions.
- Provide ongoing support and coaching to employees post-learning to ensure transfer of learning to job roles.
- Organize refresher sessions to reinforce key concepts and skills.
Learning Evaluation & Improvement:
- Assess the effectiveness of learning programs using surveys, questionnaires, interviews and by observation, in order to plan future courses or to amend existing ones.
- Make recommendations for improvement and update learning programs as necessary to ensure that they are current.
Learning Management System:
- Administer the Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure that it meets the learning needs of the organization.
- Upload course content, track learner progress, and manage records within the system.
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of the LMS, ensuring it functions smoothly and remains up-to-date.
- Customize the LMS interface to enhance user experience and facilitate easier access to learning resources.
- Ensure all learning materials are easily accessible and well-organized within the LMS.
- Analyze data from the LMS to monitor user progress and program effectiveness.
- Generate detailed reports on training participation, completion rates, and assessment outcomes to inform future training decisions.
- Regularly update and archive training content in the LMS to maintain relevance and accuracy.
L&D Partner Management:
- Identify and evaluate potential partners and vendors that align with the GCCs learning objectives.
- Conduct due diligence to ensure partners have the necessary expertise and resources.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with learning providers, negotiating contracts and terms of engagement.
- Manage ongoing communications and resolve any issues that arise, ensuring partners meet their contractual obligations.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of partners through feedback from learners and performance metrics.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of proven experience as an L&D Specialist, Training Facilitator, or similar role within a banking or financial services environment.
Key Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of effective learning and development methods.
- Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills; able to articulate the value and impact of learning to a variety of audiences.
- Strong writing and record keeping ability for reports and manuals.
- Good computer and database skills.
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills.
- Ability to assess the effectiveness of programs and implement improvements.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Adept at adjusting to changing circumstances and needs within a fast-paced environment.
