Job Summary:
Manager Taxation will be responsible for managing the organizations direct and indirect tax compliance, planning, assessments, audits, and advisory matters. The role involves ensuring timely statutory compliance, optimizing tax efficiency, handling tax litigation, and coordinating with external consultants and tax authorities.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Core Role Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor a team of 2-5 finance professionals
- Ensure timely and accurate computation, payment, and filing of all direct taxes (e.g., corporate income tax, advance tax, TDS) and indirect taxes (e.g., GST)
- Review Corporate Income Tax, TDS and GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, GSTR-8 ), reconciliations, and input tax credit (ITC) eligibility.
- Handle income tax assessments, scrutiny cases, rectifications, appeals, and notices.
- Handle GST audits, departmental queries, notices, and litigation.
- Ensure compliance with withholding tax (TDS) on interest to lenders, debenture holders, and vendors.
- Ensuring reconciliation between various tax systems and accounting records (e.g., 26AS vs books)
- Review tax provisions, deferred tax workings, and disclosures for financial statements and regulatory reporting.
- Manage GST implications on lease financing, securitization assignments, co-lending arrangements, and vendor contracts.
- Review tax implications related to borrowings, bonds, NCD issuances, ECBs, and interest payments.
- Evaluate tax implications of new loan products, digital lending models, fintech partnerships, and co-lending structures.
- Drive automation initiatives to reduce manual processes
- Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance internal controls.
- Streamlined financial reporting processes, improving accuracy and timelines.
- Liaise with statutory auditors, tax auditors, internal auditors, tax authorities, legal advisors and consultants.
- Assist in due diligence, restructuring, or expansion initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to timelines and statutory deadlines.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Chartered Accountant (CA) with 47 years of post-qualification experience in corporate taxation, tax assessments and audit
- Exposure to both direct and indirect taxes
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skill and ability to interpret complex tax regulations
- Proficient in tools such as MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
