The Credit Risk and Underwriting Director will lead, develop and monitor credit policies and underwriting guidelines related to a credit line business. The primary objective is improving and supervising the underwriting and credit risk model, processes, effectively challenging Business Line, Operations, and Product teams, and managing key stakeholders to optimize outcomes. Outcomes can range anywhere between reducing operational costs in underwriting or credit monitoring, reducing turnaround time or improving overall system efficiency.  Major Responsibilities :  - Understand and further develop risk appetite and guidelines around this business.  - Manage risk of loan portfolio including regular reviews and reporting.  - Responsible for independently reviewing, analyzing and recommending credit hold and underwriting amounts in a pressured deal environment.  - Responsible for ongoing monitoring and credit reviews of various loan portfolios in multi-grade credit profiles including internal and regulatory rating assignments, identification of underwriting weaknesses and recommending action steps based on our risk appetite. Assess and determine de-risking strategies if required.  - Make presentations to senior management during transactions, ad hoc Credit Committees, and industry reviews.  - As required, participate in internal projects that improve credit process efficiency and effectiveness to assist in achieving key strategic objectives.   - As required, work with junior credit officers as needed to provide training and mentoring  - Identify and communicate technical and strategic matters to both clients and upper management  - Work closely with the AI/ML team to evolve the risk model with more data sources, partnerships and industry insights  - Be data driven and have an appetite for experimentation i.e. doing multiple tests within the portfolio for model evolution  Qualifications :   - Minimum 10 years of work experience with a major underwriting bank(s) of nbfc(s) (originate & distribute model), focused on risk management in unsecured loans sector  - Extensive Capital markets perspective and structuring experience are crucial to evaluate distribution strategy and mechanics.   - Minimum 4 years of experience in credit risk modeling with grip on modeling around bureau data  - Demonstrated ability to lead teams; building internal processes & policies with strong communication and presentation skills.  - Strong critical thinking skills, creativity, and the ability to apply theoretical concepts to solve business problems and work independently to achieve results while collaborating effectively with colleagues distributed geographically  - Thorough knowledge of legal, regulatory and compliance issues with regard to this Business.  - Comfortable with a high-pressured environment.
