Role Overview
The Factory Head will be responsible for end-to-end manufacturing operations. ensuring efficiency, quality, safety, and cost optimisation across all production lines. This is a senior leadership role for a proven operations leader who can scale a fast-growing, high-volume modular furniture manufacturing facility, build high-performing teams, drive process excellence, and deliver consistently on business commitments.
The role will oversee a team of 200+ across shopfloor workforce, supervisors, carpenters, painters, welders, technicians, and support functions.
Key Responsibilities
A. Operations Management
- Oversee daily factory operations production, planning, maintenance, quality, and dispatch
- Ensure on-time production aligned with business targets and customer delivery commitments
- Optimise capacity utilisation and proactively minimise downtime across all production lines
- Collaborate with procurement, and sales teams to align factory output with demand
B. Production Planning & Efficiency
- Drive integrated production planning in coordination with supply chain and commercial teams
- Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to improve throughput and eliminate waste
- Monitor and improve key operational KPIs OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), yield, and productivity
- Establish robust scheduling systems to manage order volume growth and seasonal demand variations
C. Team Leadership & People Development
- Lead and manage a team of 200+ including supervisors, carpenters, painters, welders, operators, technicians, and shopfloor workforce
- Build a strong culture of accountability, discipline, ownership, and high performance across the factory
- Hire, train, and develop future leaders within the factory; create structured career pathways for the workforce
- Conduct regular performance reviews and build a motivated, engaged, and capable workforce
D. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to quality standards, SOPs, and internal benchmarks at all stages of production
- Drive continuous improvement in product quality and systematically reduce defects and rework
- Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, safety norms, and relevant certifications (ISO, FSC, SEDEX)
- Work with the quality team to implement robust inspection, testing, and audit protocols
E. Cost & Budget Management
- Own and control manufacturing costs optimise resource, material, and manpower utilisation
- Manage budgets for operations, maintenance, and workforce with clear accountability for factory P&L
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or timelines
- Present regular financial and operational performance reports to leadership
F. Safety & Maintenance
- Ensure a safe and healthy working environment with strict adherence to all safety protocols and regulations
- Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance of all machinery and equipment to maximise uptime
- Drive a zero-accident culture across the factory through structured training, regular audits, and accountability
- Ensure all statutory health, safety, and fire compliance requirements are consistently met
G. Process Improvement & Scaling
- Lead automation, digitisation, and process innovation initiatives relevant to modular furniture manufacturing
- Continuously improve processes to support business growth, scalability, and new product introductions
- Collaborate with leadership on capacity expansion, new line setup, or greenfield plant establishment as required
- Champion a continuous improvement culture identifying, testing, and embedding better ways of working
