Job Title: Purchase Head

Job Description:
Strategic Procurement Leadership:
- Develop and implement robust procurement strategies aligned with the companys business objectives and cost-efficiency goals.
- Lead the sourcing and vendor development functions to ensure the best value in terms of quality, cost, delivery, and service.
- Establish procurement policies and procedures that drive operational excellence and compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, Finance, R&D, and Supply Chain to align purchasing strategies with business needs.
Vendor and Supply Chain Management:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and negotiate long-term contracts ensuring continuity of supply and cost competitiveness.
- Monitor vendor performance against key KPIs such as quality, delivery, responsiveness, and compliance.
- Identify and develop alternate sources of supply to mitigate risk and ensure supply chain resilience.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials while maintaining optimal inventory levels.
Cost Optimization and Value Engineering:
- Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, spend analysis, and value engineering.
- Identify opportunities for price negotiations and implement initiatives that reduce total cost of ownership.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensure adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements, including import/export compliance, GST, and environmental norms.
- Monitor and mitigate supply-related risks through robust risk assessment and contingency planning.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and innovation within the procurement function.
System and Process Management:
- Ensure accurate documentation and transparency in all procurement transactions.
- Leverage ERP systems (preferably SAP) for process automation, spend analysis, and real-time decision-making.
- Continuously review and improve procurement processes to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related field; MBA/PGDM in Supply Chain Management or Operations is preferred.
- 15-20 years of experience in procurement, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the manufacturing sector.
- Proven expertise in strategic sourcing, cost optimization, and supplier relationship management.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP is mandatory).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Strong commercial and business acumen with a focus on value creation.
