Job Title: Senior Employee Relations Advisor / Manager (Industrial & Employment Law)
Job Purpose:
To provide strategic, commercial, and pragmatic advice to the business on complex industrial relations, employee relations, and employment law matters. This role is critical for mitigating conduct risk, managing significant employee issues, and supporting organizational priorities through expert guidance and the development of robust ER frameworks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic advice and support to business leaders on complex ER and employment matters, including serious misconduct, grievances, whistleblowing, bullying, harassment, and discrimination.
- Manage formal investigations into employee conduct and workplace concerns.
- Interpret and advise on the application of employment/industrial laws, regulations, and workplace policies.
- Develop, enable, and continuously improve the Employee Relations framework with a focus on risk mitigation.
- Support organizational change initiatives and manage employment-related legal claims.
- Develop and implement legal and ER capability through knowledge articles, guidance, and training.
- Lead and support People & Culture programs and projects, identifying and reporting on significant trends and issues.
- Engage with and influence senior internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal business outcomes.
- Role model the organization's values and drive a culture of compliance and continuous improvement in ER and policy-related areas.
Decision-Making Authority:
Operational autonomy to manage quality, resources, training, and reporting within defined policies, principles, and strategic objectives. Authority includes leadership accountability for teams and making day-to-day decisions aligned with business priorities.
Key Stakeholders:
Internal: Senior Business Leaders, People & Culture (P&C), Legal, Compliance.
External: Labor Authorities, External Lawyers, Police.
Essential Capabilities & Skills:
- Deep expertise in employment/industrial law and complex ER case management.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide pragmatic solutions.
- Excellent influencing, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- High ethical discipline and a service-oriented mindset.
- Ability to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships.
- External networking skills to understand best practice trends.
Qualification Requirements: A degree in Business Management (preferably HR) and/or Employment Law.
Experience Requirements:
- 10-15 years of overall professional experience, including 6-8 years of proven Employee Relations experience within a large corporate environment (finance sector or professional services preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in applying risk management principles, analysis, and insights.
- Proven experience in writing and presenting reports to Senior Leadership teams.

- Proactive management of risk, ensuring compliance with all policies and legislative requirements.
- Performing controls and adhering to role-specific processes and procedures.
- Timely escalation of events, issues, or breaches.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Effective stakeholder management as evidenced by stakeholder feedback.
- Maintenance of full compliance with legislative requirements and company standards.
