Senior Underwriter - Property Engineering

Job Title: Property Engineering Senior Underwriter

Location: Churchgate, Mumbai

To underwrite complex property and engineering risks across industrial, infrastructure, and construction sectors. The role involves evaluating technical submissions, determining appropriate pricing and coverage terms, and negotiating with brokers and clients to achieve profitable growth in line with the companys underwriting strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment & Underwriting:

- Underwrite and manage a portfolio of complex property and engineering risks, including large industrial facilities, infrastructure, and construction projects.

- Review technical submissions, analyze exposures, and determine appropriate coverage structures and pricing.

- Apply sound underwriting judgment to ensure profitability and compliance with underwriting guidelines.

Client & Broker Engagement:

- Negotiate terms and conditions with brokers and clients to secure and retain profitable business.

- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key market stakeholders.

Portfolio Management:

- Monitor account performance, loss trends, and exposure accumulations.

- Support the development of underwriting strategies to maintain a balanced and profitable portfolio.

Collaboration & Support:

- Work closely with risk engineers, claims, and actuarial teams to ensure comprehensive risk evaluation and portfolio performance.

- Provide technical guidance to junior underwriters and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.

Market & Regulatory Awareness:

- Keep track of market developments, regulatory changes, and emerging risks affecting the property and engineering insurance sector.

- Contribute to product development and innovation initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience:

- 15+ years of experience in property and engineering underwriting, ideally with exposure to complex or large-scale risks.

- Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.

- Proven ability to build and maintain strong broker and client relationships
