Role Summary: Senior Technical Project Manager
Location: Remote
Experience: 10 Years to 15 Years
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Delivery & Coordination Ownership
- Manage technical delivery plans for platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, and AI-augmented delivery initiatives, and assisting the break-down of complex initiatives into executable work streams.
- Facilitate business and technical requirements into solution specifications and delivery plans, working directly with architects, engineering leads, and product stakeholders.
- Manage delivery timelines, dependencies, and risk mitigation for multi-team efforts spanning infrastructure, integrations, and deployment automation.
- Drive adoption of modern architecture patterns (microservices, serverless, event-driven) and infrastructure-as-code practices across delivery teams.
- Establish and track delivery metrics (velocity, cycle time, deployment frequency, lead time) to drive continuous improvement and accountability.
Technical Program Facilitation & Team Enablement:
- Facilitate team planning, technical reviews, and continuous improvement to ensure iterative delivery with incremental progress.
- Drive architectural discussion needing review through gates and design decisions, synthesizing input from engineering teams and guiding technical trade-off decisions.
- Identify and resolve delivery blockers by liaising between engineering, ops, and stakeholder teams with technical credibility and urgency.
- Foster an environment among engineering leads on delivery excellence, technical project planning, and cross-team communication patterns.
- Establish clear acceptance criteria, definition of done, and technical quality standards for platform and infrastructure deliverables.
Stakeholder Communication & Risk Management:
- Communicate delivery status, technical decisions, and risks to executive stakeholders in clear, actionable terms while escalating obstacles requiring leadership intervention.
- Manage technical dependencies across platform initiatives (CI/CD, infrastructure automation, data pipelines, vendor integrations) and coordinate timelines.
- Develop and maintain delivery roadmaps visible to all stakeholders, with clear milestone markers, success criteria, and confidence levels.
- Proactively identify with tech leads technical debt, infrastructure gaps, and modernization needs; build business cases for strategic platform investments.
What Success Looks Like:
- Consistent on-time delivery of complex platform and infrastructure initiatives with high team engagement and minimal firefighting.
- Engineering teams understand the "why" behind technical decisions, priorities, and dependencies while reducing ambiguity and rework.
- Platform milestones are transparent to team and IT leadership; delivery risks are surfaced early with clear mitigation strategies.
- Adoption of improved delivery practices (spec-driven development, architectural governance, infrastructure automation) across teams.
- Strong collaboration between product, engineering, architecture, and operations; seamless hand-offs between design and execution phases.
Required Experience & Technical Background:
- Platform Engineering & Cloud Infrastructure (Critical)
- 10+ years delivering platform engineering, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps initiatives - comfortable discussing architecture patterns, deployment strategies, and infrastructure automation.
- High familiarity with CI/CD pipeline design, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS CDK), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure monitoring.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms project management (AWS preferred: EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, API Gateway, and networking components).
- Experience managing technical dependencies across teams and orchestrating multi-team delivery efforts in infrastructure and platform contexts.
- High understanding in requirements involving microservices architecture, API design patterns, authentication/authorization frameworks, and observability practices (logging, tracing, metrics).
Delivery & Leadership:
- 5+ years leading technical delivery, program management, or scrum/agile facilitation roles - comfortable defining roadmaps, managing stakeholders, and driving execution.
- Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and work with architects on design decisions.
- Experience with delivery frameworks (SAFe, Agile, Kanban) and metrics-driven delivery optimization.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and mitigate delivery risks, resolve blockers, and maintain team velocity in complex environments.
Preferred Background & Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Hands-on software engineering background with experience in backend systems (Node.js, Python, Java, or similar), RESTful APIs, and microservices.
- Familiarity with database (relational, NoSQL), infrastructure, networking, data pipeline architecture, and integration patterns.
- Understanding of security best practices, authentication protocols (OAuth2, SAML, MSAL), and secrets management.
- Experience in the logistics, supply chain, or transportation technology sectors.
- Exposure to AI/ML model deployment pipelines, feature stores, or MLOps practices.
- Experience with IT operations management and strategic platform delivery dependency management.
- Familiarity with open-source ecosystem governance and enterprise OSS integration patterns.
- Background in intermodal, freight, or chassis management systems (preferred for industry context).
