
Senior Tax Analyst

Job Summary:
We are looking for a skilled and experienced Tax Supervisor to lead the U.S. Sales and Use Tax compliance activities within our India-based Tax team. This role involves overseeing the preparation and filing of tax returns, managing a team of analysts, ensuring compliance with U.S. state and local tax regulations, and driving process improvements. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to managing indirect tax operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the preparation and filing of U.S. Sales and Use Tax returns across multiple jurisdictions.
- Review tax filings and reconciliations prepared by team members to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Manage tax calendars and ensure all filings are completed on time.
- Lead responses to tax notices and audits from U.S. state and local authorities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Accounting, IT) to ensure data integrity and support tax reporting needs.
- Mentor and develop junior team members, providing training and guidance on tax processes and regulations.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Monitor changes in U.S. Sales and Use Tax laws and assess their impact on the business.
- Maintain documentation and internal controls in line with audit and compliance requirements.
Qualifications:
- A Chartered Accountant with bachelor's degree in accounting and finance.
- 5-6 years of experience in U.S. Sales and Use Tax compliance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
- Strong understanding of U.S. indirect tax regulations and filing requirements.
- Experience with tax software (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, ONESOURCE) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a shared services or global tax environment.
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and indirect tax accounting.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
