Senior Statistician Survey Methodology & Sampling
Location: Bangalore (Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days remote)
Salary : Rs.55 lakhs to 65 lakhs
Role Purpose:
- This role is for a senior statistician who specializes in survey design, sampling methodology, and weighting, ensuring that large-scale, multi-country survey data is representative, accurate, and methodologically sound.
- The core focus is on how data is collected - including sampling frames, survey design, and weighting - not on advanced predictive modeling, machine learning, or data science after the data exists.
- The role plays a critical part in shaping globally comparable data that informs public discourse, policy decisions, and social research.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design statistically representative samples for face-to-face, phone, and web-based surveys
- Develop, validate, and analyze sampling frames across diverse geographies
- Lead survey weighting methodologies, including non-response adjustment and post-stratification
- Establish and enforce QA/QC protocols for sampling and weighting execution
- Monitor sample implementation during fieldwork and resolve methodological issues
- Provide technical support for probability-based panels, especially in emerging markets
- Analyze survey datasets using R or Python for validation, weighting, and descriptive analysis
- Clearly document methodologies, assumptions, and decisions
- Advise internal teams on survey design, sampling, and weighting best practices
- Supervise and mentor a small India-based statistical team
Required Background:
- Masters degree in Statistics or a related field (PhD preferred)
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in survey sampling and weighting
- Strong foundation in research methodology and questionnaire-based surveys
- Experience in government surveys, NGOs, international organizations, academia, or market research
- Proficiency in R or Python for survey statistics
- Ability to work from the Bangalore office at least three days per week
