Description:

- Senior Survey Methodologist Global Research : Bangalore ( Sr Statistician )

Senior Statistician Survey Methodology & Sampling

Location: Bangalore (Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days remote)

Salary : Rs.55 lakhs to 65 lakhs

Role Purpose:

- This role is for a senior statistician who specializes in survey design, sampling methodology, and weighting, ensuring that large-scale, multi-country survey data is representative, accurate, and methodologically sound.

- The core focus is on how data is collected - including sampling frames, survey design, and weighting - not on advanced predictive modeling, machine learning, or data science after the data exists.

- The role plays a critical part in shaping globally comparable data that informs public discourse, policy decisions, and social research.

Key Responsibilities:

- Design statistically representative samples for face-to-face, phone, and web-based surveys

- Develop, validate, and analyze sampling frames across diverse geographies

- Lead survey weighting methodologies, including non-response adjustment and post-stratification

- Establish and enforce QA/QC protocols for sampling and weighting execution

- Monitor sample implementation during fieldwork and resolve methodological issues

- Provide technical support for probability-based panels, especially in emerging markets

- Analyze survey datasets using R or Python for validation, weighting, and descriptive analysis

- Clearly document methodologies, assumptions, and decisions

- Advise internal teams on survey design, sampling, and weighting best practices

- Supervise and mentor a small India-based statistical team

Required Background:

- Masters degree in Statistics or a related field (PhD preferred)

- 7+ years of hands-on experience in survey sampling and weighting

- Strong foundation in research methodology and questionnaire-based surveys

- Experience in government surveys, NGOs, international organizations, academia, or market research

- Proficiency in R or Python for survey statistics

- Ability to work from the Bangalore office at least three days per week

What This Role Is NOT:

- Not biostatistics or clinical research

- Not applied analytics or business intelligence

- Not data science, machine learning, or predictive modeling

- This role is ideal for professionals grounded in classical survey statistics and social research, particularly those who enjoy shaping how data is collected rather than modeling outcomes afterward.
