Senior Sales Officer - Steel Manufacturing (Rebars)
Description:
A leading steel manufacturer, is looking to hire an experienced Senior Sales Officer to manage end-to-end sales operations, credit sales, dispatch coordination, market intelligence, and customer relationship management for its rebar business.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Operations:
- Prepare and issue proforma invoices for new and existing customers
- Process sales orders post price finalisation
- Coordinate special price approvals with Finance, including signed PFI approvals from MD
- Draft and update company price policy in consultation with the Managing Director
Credit Sales Management:
- Issue and collect customer credit application forms
- Submit completed credit applications to MD for approval
- Prepare and manage credit sales agreements between the company and customers
- Ensure bank guarantees are obtained, verified, and approved prior to credit sales finalisation
- Strict follow-up on credit settlements and outstanding receivables
- Coordinate with banks for settlement recovery in case of delayed payments
Dispatch Planning & Coordination:
- Prepare and share daily dispatch schedules with dispatch and logistics teams (one day in advance)
- Coordinate with customers daily for next-day truck planning
- Match dispatch plans with available stock to avoid delays
- Liaise with Finance daily to confirm payment availability prior to dispatch
- Ensure dispatch plans clearly mention customer name, sales order number, rebar size, quantity (pieces & tons)
Market Research & Intelligence:
- Track daily movement of the rebar market
- Monitor competitors pricing, stock levels, and billet availability
- Share regular market intelligence inputs with management
Customer Relationship Management:
- Maintain strong, long-term relationships with all key customers
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through regular interaction and issue resolution
Production Planning Support:
- Prepare monthly production schedules based on confirmed and potential orders
- Coordinate urgent amendments to production plans based on customer requirements
Quality Complaint Handling:
- Act as a coordination point between customers and Quality Department
- Collect and share complete complaint details including site information, batch numbers, quantities, and samples
- Ensure timely site inspections, external testing, and resolution
- Coordinate immediate replacement of material in case of proven quality issues
- Ensure final quality reports are shared with customers
Marketing & Brand Promotion:
- Manage social media marketing activities, primarily on Facebook
- Coordinate updates to company website including quality certificates and content changes
Collections:
- Ensure weekly follow-up and collection from long-term credit customers
Reporting:
- Weekly Market Analysis (Competitor Pricing)
- Monthly Sales Order Outstanding Report
- Monthly Credit Sales Report
- Quarterly Sales Performance Report
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Bachelors/Masters degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Marketing, or Engineering
- Strong experience in steel, rebar, cement, or construction material sales
- Hands-on exposure to credit sales, bank guarantees, and collections
- Strong coordination skills with finance, dispatch, production, and quality teams
- Excellent customer handling, negotiation, and follow-up skills
- Market-savvy with strong analytical and reporting capability
- High level of ownership, discipline, and integrity
