About the job:
Job Purpose:
The Senior Audit and Accounting Personnel is responsible for leading audit assistance engagements, providing technical accounting advice, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The role involves working with a diverse portfolio of clients, including SMEs, large corporations, and non-profit organizations, to deliver high-quality audit and accounting services. The candidate will also play a key role in mentoring junior staff and supporting the firm's growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Audit or related Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage audit and related engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring compliance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA) and UK Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (GAAP).
- Prepare, review and analyze financial statements and ensure that they are accurate and comply with relevant accounting standards.
- Assess internal controls and identify areas for improvement, providing clients with actionable recommendations.
- Ensure that audit work is documented properly and that all files are prepared in accordance with the firms quality control policies.
- Communicate effectively with clients to resolve audit-related issues and provide value-added services.
- Work closely with the leadership team and external Audit Manager and Partners to manage client relationships and ensure client satisfaction.
Accounting Responsibilities:
- Provide technical accounting support to clients, including advising on complex accounting issues and the application of accounting standards (FRS 102, IFRS, etc.).
- Prepare and review statutory financial statements in accordance with UK GAAP and IFRS.
- Prepare the tax returns and other related documents as part of the clients routine process.
- Assist clients with year-end closing processes and the preparation of management accounts.
- Conduct financial analysis and produce reports to assist clients with business decision-making.
Leadership and Development:
- Supervise and mentor junior audit and accounting staff, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
- Review the work of junior staff to ensure quality and accuracy, providing constructive feedback.
- Assist in the recruitment and training of new staff members.
- Participate in the firm's internal training programs and contribute to the development of training materials.
Client and Business Development:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and delivering high-quality service.
- Identify opportunities to expand services to existing clients and assist in winning new business.
- Participate in networking events, industry conferences, and other business development activities.
Qualifications:
- ACA/ACCA/ICAEW qualified (or equivalent), with significant post-qualification experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS, and ISA.
- Proven experience in leading audits for a variety of clients, including SMEs and larger corporations.
- Experience with accounting software such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Free Agent, VT, CaseWare, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite and related software.
- Good knowledge of working with office 365 applications including Power BI or advance excel to analyse the large dataset.
- Able to handle the financial modelling and data analysis project
- Strong leadership skills, with experience managing and mentoring staff.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- Analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret and present financial information clearly.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in a specific industry sector -Forecourt, Retail, F&B, Hospitality, Real Estate and IT services
- Working knowledge of tax regulations and their impact on financial statements.
- Experience with data analytics tools used in audit and practice management processes.
