Role Overview
The Senior Manager Logistics will be responsible for leading end-to-end inbound and outbound logistics operations, driving cost optimization, service excellence, and compliance across domestic transportation networks. The role will act as a subject matter expert for surface logistics and distribution center operations, managing strategic partnerships with logistics service providers and ensuring high customer delivery performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Inbound Logistics Management
- Lead end-to-end inbound logistics operations for manufactured standard products, equipment, and traded finished goods from domestic suppliers to factories or hub distribution centers.
- Ensure efficient planning, coordination, and execution of inbound transportation to meet production and distribution requirements.
Outbound Logistics & Transportation
- Manage outbound transportation of finished goods from factory warehouses and distribution centers using FTL, PTL, containerized, and ODC movements.
- Oversee road and rail dispatch operations to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
Service Provider & Contract Management
- Manage and govern contracts with 2PL, 3PL, and 4PL logistics service providers, including LOIs, SLAs, and performance metrics.
- Drive operational excellence, SLA adherence, and effective resolution of logistics-related customer complaints.
Cost Optimization & Network Efficiency
- Identify and develop optimized transportation lanes and logistics solutions to drive freight cost reduction for PTL and FTL movements.
- Own logistics budgeting, freight negotiations, and continuous cost optimization initiatives.
Domain Expertise & Process Excellence
- Act as a domain expert for surface logistics operations and distribution center management.
- Lead process improvements, digital logistics initiatives, and data-driven decision-making to enhance efficiency and scalability.
Required Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Logistics and Supply Chain Management.
- Proven track record in managing customer delivery performance and service levels.
- Strong exposure to transportation management, vendor governance, and contract management.
- Experience working within engineering, manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial product environments.
Desired Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong commercial and financial acumen with demonstrated expertise in logistics cost optimization.
- Proficiency in SAP ERP and logistics-related data analytics tools.
- Experience in digital logistics initiatives, vendor management, and SLA governance.
- Excellent stakeholder management, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in any discipline.
- MBA / Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain Management or Operations preferred.
