Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Tax Manager to lead EMEA tax strategy, operations, and controversy matters. This role partners with the Director, Global Tax, regional finance teams, and external advisors to drive effective tax planning, manage audits, ensure compliance, and mitigate tax risks. The position also supports global tax initiatives and oversees key operational activities, including transfer pricing, provision support, and coordination with managed service partners.
Skill / Qualifications:
- Master's or Bachelors degree or higher in Accounting, Tax, Finance, or Law, with relevant certifications preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in international tax planning and tax controversy for multinational organizations or equivalent Big Four experience.
- Strong ability to interpret and apply European tax regulations in both operational and strategic contexts.
- Proven experience managing complex international tax audits and controversy matters.
- Advanced skills in tax modeling and financial data analysis (Excel).
- Hands-on experience with SAP, HFM (Hyperion Financial Management), and OneSource.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written, verbal, and presentation); additional regional languages are an advantage.
- Strong project leadership, collaboration, and critical thinking capabilities, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Tax Planning:
- Support the Director in developing and executing forward-looking tax strategies aligned with corporate objectives and long-term value creation.
- Contribute to global tax initiatives aimed at optimizing the effective tax rate and cash tax rate.
- Monitor tax legislation, regulatory changes, and evaluate implications for EMEA operations.
- Provide initial tax input and due diligence support for M&A transactions, corporate restructuring, and strategic business initiatives.
- Represent the tax function in cross-functional and enterprise-wide projects, ensuring alignment with broader business goals.
Tax Controversy:
- Support Controllers in managing tax audits and oversee controversy matters related to strategic transactions in coordination with external advisors.
- Assist the Director in advanced pricing agreements (APAs), mutual agreement procedures (MAPs), foreign tax litigation, and ruling requests.
- Present updates to EMEA leadership on tax controversy matters and regulatory developments at least twice annually.
Tax Operations (Provision & Compliance):
- Review and approve transfer pricing documentation prepared by the Managed Services Partner.
- Serve as the primary liaison with external tax service providers and regional external auditors.
- Prepare tax models, draft step plans, and deliver clear, technically sound tax analyses.
- Partner with the Managed Services Partner and Director, Global Tax Operations, to assess tax provision and compliance impacts of EMEA transactions.
- Oversee key controls, including reviews of transfer pricing, valuation allowances (VA), and uncertain tax positions (UTP).
- Manage tax treaty qualification processes and withholding tax exemption certificates with support from local advisors.
- Provide ongoing support to Controllers and the Managed Services Partner on compliance and provision-related matters.
Additional Functional Responsibilities:
- Support tax provision activities and indirect tax requirements within the region.
- Manage tax matters related to audits, intercompany transactions, and transfer pricing frameworks.
- Oversee tax processes and requirements for Regional Headquarters operations.
