Description:


Role & responsibilities:


Strategic Procurement & Negotiations:


- Lead centralized negotiation of prices and commercial terms with suppliers for raw materials, packing materials, consumables, and services.


- Manage procurement of key raw materials such as plastic films, paper, inks, coatings, chemicals, etc. for both domestic and import sourcing.


- Establish structured pricing mechanisms with vendors linked to movement in key input prices.


- Develop long-term supply agreements, pricing frameworks, rebate structures, and volume commitments.


Vendor Development & Management:


- Identify and onboard new domestic and international suppliers to diversify sourcing and mitigate supply risks.


- Evaluate supplier performance in coordination with Supply Chain, Plant Operations, and Quality teams.


- Strengthen vendor relationships focusing on pricing, reliability, innovation, quality, and service levels.


- Collaborate with technical teams for development of new materials and vendor qualification.


Procurement Operations:


- Manage the RFQ / tendering process, vendor comparison, and procurement decision making.


Conduct commercial negotiations and contracting for:


- Raw materials and consumables


- Capital equipment


- Engineering and project contracts


- AMCs and utilities


- Civil, mechanical, electrical project contracts


- Ensure procurement activities align with budget, operational timelines, and plant requirements.


Supply Market Intelligence:


- Monitor price trends of key feedstocks and raw materials.


- Track supply-demand dynamics, capacity developments, and global market changes.


- Provide inputs to management on procurement strategy and cost optimization opportunities.


Import Procurement & Compliance:


- Manage import procurement documentation and ensure compliance with EOU regulations and customs procedures.


- Handle import logistics coordination, documentation, and supplier commercial terms.


- Ensure regulatory compliance for domestic and international procurement.


Contracting & Commercial Governance:


- Negotiate and finalize supplier contracts, service agreements, and third-party contracts.


- Monitor rebates, discounts, claims, and commercial benefits from suppliers.


- Ensure proper commercial documentation and contract compliance.


Inventory & Cost Management:


- Work closely with Supply Chain to optimize inventory levels and procurement planning.


- Support initiatives for working capital efficiency and cost optimization.


- Participate in material cost reduction programs and value engineering initiatives.


Reporting & MIS:


- Prepare periodic procurement MIS reports for management review.


- Track cost savings, vendor performance, procurement efficiency, and sourcing strategies.


- Support budgeting, forecasting, and group reporting requirements.


Preferred candidate profile:


- Bachelors degree in Engineering / Supply Chain / Commerce / Materials Management


- MBA or Postgraduate qualification in Supply Chain / Operations / Procurement preferred.


- 8-15 years of experience in procurement / sourcing / supply chain within manufacturing industries.


- Experience in packaging, chemicals, films, paper, specialty materials, or process manufacturing preferred.


- Exposure to import procurement and EOU compliance will be an advantage.
