Senior Manager - Export & Import Sales


Description:


Position Overview


The Export & Import Sales Senior Manager is responsible for overseeing international sales and purchase operations, ensuring seamless coordination between global trade activities and the companys supply chain strategy. Reporting to the GM Supply Chain, this role drives business growth, manages supplier and customer relationships, and ensures compliance with international trade regulations while optimizing logistics and cost efficiency.


Key Responsibilities:


Strategic Sales & Purchase Management


- Develop and execute strategies to expand international sales and sourcing opportunities.


- Identify new markets and suppliers, negotiate contracts, and build long-term partnerships.


- Align sales and purchase activities with overall supply chain objectives.


- Monitor performance against revenue, margin, and procurement cost targets.

Export & Import Operations


- Supervise coordination with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs brokers.

- Negotiate and finalize transportation costs with export/import forwarders to optimize logistics expenses.

- Ensure timely dispatch and delivery of consignments in line with customer requirements.

- Oversee preparation and verification of export/import documentation (invoices, packing lists, LC documents, certificates of origin, compliance certificates).

Compliance & Risk Management


- Ensure adherence to international trade laws, customs regulations, and industry-specific standards.

- Manage Letters of Credit (LC), bank documentation, and insurance requirements.

- Mitigate risks related to currency fluctuations, logistics delays, and regulatory changes.

Supply Chain Integration


- Work closely with the GM Supply Chain to align trade operations with production, inventory, and distribution plans.

- Provide inputs on demand forecasting, procurement planning, and logistics optimization.

- Support supply chain efficiency by balancing sales commitments with material availability.

Team Leadership & Development


- Lead and mentor the export/import coordination and sales teams.

- Allocate responsibilities across sales, purchase, and logistics functions.

- Drive performance management, training, and skill development initiatives.

Reporting & Strategy


- Prepare and present reports on sales, purchase, shipment status, and market trends to the GM Supply Chain.

- Provide insights into global trade opportunities, competitor analysis, and pricing strategies.

- Collaborate with leadership to align export/import strategies with overall business goals.

Qualifications & Skills:


- Bachelors/masters degree in international business, Supply Chain, or related field.

- 10+ years of experience in export/import management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.

- Strong knowledge of INCOTERMS, customs regulations, and international trade practices.

- Proven experience in both sales (exports) and procurement (imports).


- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Tally) and MS Office.

- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and deliver results.
