Senior Manager - Equity Research

Position Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Client & Account Ownership:

- Act as the primary point of contact for key global clients (asset managers, hedge funds, family offices, brokerage houses, pension funds, sovereign wealth funds, CIO Offices, etc).

- Own end-to-end delivery across engagements including:

1. Initiation notes, earnings updates, thematic reports.

2. Financial models (DCF, trading comps, scenario analysis).

3. Idea generation.

4. Sector / Macro / Thematic Reports.

- Build relationships with clients through high-quality insights and responsiveness.

- Drive account growth through cross-selling and upselling opportunities.

Research & Delivery Excellence:

- Lead and oversee equity research deliverables across sectors and geographies.

- Ensure high-quality, insight-driven output with strong attention to detail and timelines.

- Guide teams on:

1. Investment thesis development.

2. Valuation methodologies and assumptions.

3. Industry and macro analysis.

- Introduce best practices, standardization, and automation in research workflows.

- Manage pilot engagements and take responsibility for onboarding new accounts/client relationships.

- Ensure compliance of research team to project management systems such as timesheets, MIS tools, etc.

Team Leadership:

- Manage and mentor a team of analysts and associates.

- Responsible for developing strong working relationships with team members (research analysts, assistant managers) to ensure they are sufficiently motivated and connected with you.

- Drive performance management, training, and capability building.

- Ensure optimal resource allocation and utilization across projects.

- Addressing people issues (conflicts, discipline, behavior etc).

Learning and Development:

- Responsible for identifying training needs of team members.

- Coordinating with training SPOCs in developing new training modules, delivering existing training modules and process improvement initiatives.

- Identify self-learning and growth opportunities.

Business Development & Growth Initiatives:

- Support new client acquisition through:

1. Proposal creation, pitch decks, and solutioning.

2. Participation in client discussions and RFP responses.

- Create thought leadership content (market insights, whitepapers, thematic reports).

- Collaborate with BD and marketing teams on:

1. Lead generation campaigns.

2. Capability building and positioning.

Financial & Operational Ownership:

- Own account-level P&L, pricing, and margin optimization.

- Drive revenue growth, realization rates, and cost efficiencies.

- Ensure adherence to SLAs, KPIs, and governance frameworks.

- Monitor and improve key metrics:

1. Revenue per analyst.

2. Utilization rates.

3. Client satisfaction (NPS/CSAT).

AI & Innovation Enablement:

- Drive adoption of AI-enabled research tools (e.g., screening tools, automated models, summarization engines).

- Identify opportunities for automation and productivity enhancement.

- Contribute to development of proprietary research solutions and tools.

Research insights contribution:

- Support Investment Research teams efforts in developing in-house research insights through articles, blog updates, infographics and other forms through own contribution as well as encouraging/coordinating team members to contribute through their content writeups.
