About the Role:


We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager Backend to lead and scale our core backend engineering team responsible for the high-performance services powering our EMR platform.

In this role, you will act as both a technical leader and people manager, guiding architectural decisions while mentoring senior engineers and ensuring the delivery of scalable backend systems.

You will work closely with product and leadership teams to drive engineering excellence and deliver reliable, high-performing services as the platform scales.

Key Responsibilities:


- Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing backend engineering team.

- Manage the full employee lifecycle, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.

- Conduct regular 1-on-1s, coaching sessions, and technical mentoring to help engineers grow into technical leaders.

- Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

- Own the delivery roadmap for core backend services and APIs, ensuring timely and high-quality releases.

- Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to plan sprints, estimate efforts, and manage priorities in an Agile environment.

- Improve engineering velocity by optimizing CI/CD pipelines, deployment processes, build systems, and code review workflows.

- Ensure projects meet strict SLA, performance, and reliability standards.

- Act as a key liaison between engineering, product, customer success, sales, and leadership teams.

- Translate complex technical roadmaps into clear business impact and delivery timelines.

- Provide regular updates to stakeholders and manage expectations around technical constraints and delivery schedules.

- Provide technical leadership in designing scalable backend architectures.

- Guide the team on best practices around API design, microservices architecture, distributed systems, and event-driven systems.

- Oversee platform reliability, scalability, and performance while actively managing technical debt and infrastructure improvements.

- Support architecture decisions around high-throughput systems and workflow orchestration.

Technical Skills & Requirements:


- 7 - 15 years of experience in software engineering with experience leading backend engineering teams.

- Strong hands-on expertise in Java and backend frameworks such as Spring Boot / Spring Framework.

- Strong experience building microservices-based distributed systems.

- Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Apache Kafka or RabbitMQ.

- Strong database experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB.

- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, gRPC services, distributed systems, and performance optimization.

- Experience working with scalable backend infrastructure and cloud-based systems is preferred.

- Familiarity with Agile development practices and CI/CD pipelines.

Educational Qualifications: B.Tech / B.E in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
