Job Overview
As Sr. Manager - Business Development (Commercial Lines), you will be responsible for driving growth across commercial insurance portfolios with a strong focus on new business acquisition, client retention, and profitability. The role requires strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to identify and capitalize on market opportunities. You will play a key role in conceptualizing and executing business development strategies, understanding client risk profiles, and positioning capabilities to win and grow large corporate accounts. The role demands adaptability to evolving market conditions, collaboration with internal teams, and a results-driven approach aligned with the company's mission and strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
- Drive new business acquisition across Commercial Lines, including Property, Fire, Marine, Engineering, Health, and Liability insurance.
- Manage and grow direct corporate business with a focus on profitability and long-term client relationships.
- Identify target segments, industries, and geographies to expand the company's commercial insurance footprint.
- Develop and execute business development plans aligned with documented revenue targets and budget projections.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients, insurers, and key market stakeholders.
- Support brand visibility and business growth through industry events, client meetings, and targeted marketing initiatives.
- Monitor emerging trends in the insurance market and competitive landscape, sharing insights with senior management.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Insurance, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications will be an advantage.
- Proven experience of 8-12 years in business development within commercial insurance, preferably with an insurance broker or insurer.
- Strong understanding of commercial insurance products and corporate risk management solutions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, presentation, and verbal/written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and stakeholder management capabilities.
