Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager for Business Development and Operations to lead our expansion efforts across India. This role will be pivotal in building and managing channel sales networks, developing dealer and distributor partnerships, and ensuring operational efficiency for our lithium-ion battery products tailored for 3-wheeler e-rickshaws. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a proven track record in B2B sales, supply chain management, and scaling operations in a fast-paced startup environment. This position reports directly to the CEO and involves frequent travel Pan India.
Key Responsibilities
Channel Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive channel sales plan to drive revenue growth for lithium-ion batteries in the e-rickshaw market.
- Identify key market segments, set sales targets, and monitor performance metrics.
Dealer and Distributor Development: Build and expand a Pan-India network of dealers and distributors. Recruit, onboard, and train partners, negotiate contracts, and foster long-term relationships to ensure widespread product availability and market penetration.
Business Development: Identify new business opportunities, including partnerships with e-rickshaw manufacturers, dealers, fleet operators, and government initiatives for electric mobility. Conduct market research to stay ahead of industry trends and competitor activities.
Operations Management: Oversee supply chain logistics, inventory management, and distribution operations to ensure timely delivery and optimal stock levels across regions. Implement processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and maintain product quality standards.
Team Leadership: Lead a cross-functional team of sales and operations professionals. Provide mentorship, set performance goals, and conduct regular reviews to build a high-performing unit.
Performance Analysis: Track KPIs such as sales volume, market share, partner performance, and customer satisfaction. Use data-driven insights to refine strategies and report progress to senior leadership.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; MBA from top B schools [ IIM, ISB, FMS, IIT ] preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in business development, sales, or operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Proven expertise in channel sales, dealer/distributor management, preferably in the automotive, battery, or e-mobility sectors.
- Experience in scaling operations for a startup or high-growth company, with a focus on Pan-India expansion.
- Familiarity with the e-rickshaw or electric vehicle market in India is a strong plus but not necessary
Required Skills:
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building abilities.
- Excellent analytical skills with proficiency in tools like CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, Zoho CRM), Excel, and data visualization platforms.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and mitigate risks in a competitive market.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment with a hands-on approach.
- Willingness to travel extensively across India.
