FIRM OVERVIEW:

Our client is a long/short equity manager based in New York that pairs focused stock selection with disciplined portfolio construction and a technology-driven research process. The firm casts a wide net, then refines ideas through fundamental work, collaborative debate, and systematic use of data science to quantify risk and conviction. It has assembled a world-class team and is building a firm grounded in intellectual rigor, commitment to excellence, and a culture of ownership.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The firm is seeking a Senior Macro Strategist to build and own a structured macro strategy function that supports its investment and risk process. This role will focus on tracking and interpreting global macroeconomic data, synthesizing macro, cross-asset, equity strategy, and thematic research, and translating market regimes into actionable insights for the investment team. The ideal candidate combines the rigor of a macro economist, the market judgment of an investment strategist, and the communication skills to produce concise, high-impact research on how macro conditions affect equities, factors, sectors, and the portfolio.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Own a structured process for tracking, interpreting, and distributing key global macroeconomic data.

- Produce ex-ante and ex-post commentary on major data releases, policy events, and regime shifts, with a focus on implications for equities, factors, and portfolio construction.

- Serve as a daily macro and markets resource, communicating key developments, external views, and portfolio implications.

- Read and synthesize macro, cross-asset, equity strategy, thematic, and factor research from third-party providers.

- Own forecasting for select macro data points and policy events, comparing internal expectations against consensus and market-implied views.

- Partner with Head of Risk and the investment team to evaluate how factors, sectors, styles, and portfolio exposures behave across macro regimes.

- Develop reusable macro scenario frameworks and playbooks to assess potential market outcomes under different rates, growth, inflation, and liquidity environments.

- Build and maintain relationships with economists, macro strategists, policy specialists, and other thought leaders.

- Help organize periodic firm-wide strategy sessions and speaker events on macro, market, and thematic debates.
