Senior/Lead - Merchandiser - Retail

About the Role

We are hiring for a Senior / Lead Merchandiser with a fast-growing, digital-first retail platform in the value fashion & lifestyle space.

This role will be responsible for driving category growth, assortment strategy, and business performance, with strong ownership of merchandising outcomes and cross-functional execution.

Key Responsibilities

Category Ownership:

Own end-to-end merchandising for assigned categories with exposure to P&L, revenue, and margins

Assortment & Range Planning:

Drive range planning, product selection, and assortment strategy aligned with consumer demand and brand positioning

Buying & Planning Alignment:

Work closely with buying and planning teams to ensure optimal inventory, pricing, and sell-through

Vendor Management:

Manage vendor relationships, sourcing, negotiations, and product development cycles

Performance Tracking:

Monitor category performance, sell-through, inventory turns, and pricing efficiency to drive growth

Cross-functional Collaboration:

Partner with design, marketing, supply chain, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution

Market & Trend Analysis:

Stay updated with fashion trends, competitor benchmarking, and consumer insights

Ideal Candidate Profile

- 5-10 years of experience in merchandising within fashion/lifestyle/retail/D2C brands

Mandatory: Background in similar category merchandising roles (no unrelated profiles)

- Strong experience in category management, assortment planning, and vendor handling

- Proven ability to drive business impact, category growth, and margins

- Strong analytical mindset with comfort in data, MIS, and reporting

- Excellent stakeholder management and collaboration skills

- Leadership mindset with a hands-on, execution-focused approach

- Qualification from NIFT / IIM (mandatory)
