Designation: Senior HR Manager

Department: Human Resources

Reports To: VP of Human Resources

Location: Bangalore, India (supporting a global workforce; overlap with US business hours required)

A senior, hands-on HR partner who works closely with the VP of Human Resources to support all HBox employees across the US, India, and the Philippines. Based in India, the Senior HR Manager is not limited to the India team: this person supports managers and employees company-wide, helps keep HR operations running smoothly in every location, and leads assigned parts of global HR projects as HBox scales. Experience supporting a US workforce and familiarity with Rippling are strongly valued.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Global HR Partnership:

- Serve as a trusted HR partner to managers and employees across the US, India, and the Philippines, not only the India-based team.

- Partner with the VP of Human Resources to advise managers on employee relations, performance management, and people decisions.

- Manage employee relations matters, including investigations and documentation, in line with local laws and HBox policy, escalating significant issues to the VP of Human Resources.

- Coach managers on feedback, performance improvement plans, and difficult conversations.

HR Operations & Compliance:

- Manage day-to-day HR operations across all locations, including onboarding, employee changes, offboarding, and record keeping.

- Support compliance with US federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, I-9/E-Verify, and multi-state requirements.

- Ensure compliance with Indian labor laws and statutory requirements, including PF, ESI, gratuity, Shops & Establishments rules, and POSH.

- Support employment and contractor arrangements in the Philippines and other global locations, including Employer of Record (EOR) relationships.

- Partner with payroll and finance to ensure accurate, on-time payroll inputs across countries.

HR Systems & Rippling:

- Administer and optimize HBox's HRIS, with a focus on Rippling, including employee data, workflows, approvals, and reporting.

- Build and maintain consistent HR processes and system workflows across the US, India, and the Philippines.

- Produce HR reports and metrics, such as headcount, turnover, and time-off trends, to support leadership decisions.

Global HR Projects:

- Lead assigned workstreams within company-wide HR initiatives set by the VP of Human Resources, such as policy and handbook development, performance review cycles, compensation and career frameworks, and benefits programs.

- Own project plans, timelines, and deliverables for assigned workstreams, and keep the VP of Human Resources updated on progress, risks, and decisions needed.

- Help design and roll out global HR programs that work consistently across countries while meeting local requirements, coordinating with stakeholders in each location.

- Support HR due diligence, audits, and special projects as assigned by the VP of Human Resources.

People Leadership & Culture:

- Mentor and guide HR team members, and serve as an escalation point for HR questions before they reach the VP of Human Resources.

- Support engagement, recognition, and culture initiatives that connect a distributed, multi-country team.

Qualifications:

- 7 - 10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in an HR manager or senior HR business partner role.

- Required: hands-on experience supporting a US-based workforce, including US employment law and HR compliance.

- Strong working knowledge of Indian labor laws and statutory compliance.

- Experience supporting employees in multiple countries in a global or multinational organization.

- Familiarity with Rippling (HRIS, payroll, and/or EOR) strongly preferred; experience with other modern HRIS platforms considered.

- Proven skill in employee relations, investigations, and coaching managers.

- Proven ability to lead projects or workstreams from plan to delivery, with clear, timely status updates to leadership.

- Ability to work consistently with an overlap of US business hours (US Central and Eastern time).

- Excellent written and spoken English, with sound judgment and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

- Comfortable in a fast-paced, growing start-up environment; able to build processes from the ground up.

- Bachelor's degree required; MBA/PGDM in HR preferred.

- SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR, or similar certification a plus; healthcare or health technology experience a plus.
