Role Overview:
As the Senior General Manager of Materials and Logistics, you will serve as the strategic lead for the entire supply chain ecosystem, overseeing end-to-end material flow and logistics operations. You will work closely with plant heads, procurement teams, and external logistics partners to ensure seamless production continuity and cost-efficient distribution. Your leadership will directly impact the organizations bottom line by optimizing inventory turnover, mitigating supply chain risks, and enhancing the overall responsiveness of the logistics network to meet evolving market demands.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct the end-to-end supply chain strategy, encompassing procurement, material management, and logistics to ensure operational excellence across all manufacturing units.
- Lead large-scale procurement initiatives, negotiating with key vendors to secure cost-effective raw materials while maintaining stringent quality standards.
- Oversee inventory management protocols to balance stock availability with working capital efficiency, minimizing carrying costs without compromising production schedules.
- Design and implement robust supply planning frameworks that align production capacity with sales forecasts and market fluctuations.
- Manage complex logistics networks, including warehousing and distribution, to ensure timely delivery of finished goods to domestic and international markets.
- Drive continuous improvement projects within the supply chain, leveraging data analytics to identify bottlenecks and implement corrective measures.
- Mentor and lead cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and high performance within the materials and logistics departments.
Required Skillset:
- Demonstrated expertise in managing large-scale supply chain operations, with a proven track record of optimizing procurement and logistics processes in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical ability to interpret complex data sets, enabling informed decision-making regarding inventory levels, vendor performance, and supply chain risk mitigation.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively with stakeholders and manage relationships with external logistics partners and suppliers.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced supply chain management tools to streamline operations and enhance visibility across the value chain.
- A strategic mindset combined with a hands-on approach to problem-solving, capable of navigating the operational challenges inherent in a large-scale facility located in Tamil Nadu.
- Educational background in Engineering or Management, preferably with a specialization in Supply Chain or Operations from a reputed institution.
- 14 to 23 years of professional experience in high-growth industrial or manufacturing sectors, demonstrating a steady progression into senior leadership roles.
