Job Description: Senior GM/ AVP - Quality
Position Summary:
- The Head of Quality provides strategic leadership for the quality function across the organization's apparel manufacturing operations.
- Responsible for developing and implementing quality systems that ensure compliance with customer requirements, global standards, and continuous improvement in product integrity.
- Acts as a key business partner to manufacturing, merchandising, and sourcing to ensure right-first-time production and enhance customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Quality Leadership
- Define and implement the company's quality strategy aligned with business and customer requirements.
- Establish and enforce global quality standards, procedures, and governance across all factories/units.
- Act as the senior interface with international buyers/brands on quality and compliance matters.
2. Quality Systems & Compliance
- Lead Quality Management Systems (QMS), audits (internal, buyer, and third-party), and certifications (ISO, WRAP, etc.).
- Ensure compliance with customer quality manuals, AQL standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Build risk management systems for proactive quality control.
3. Product Integrity & Customer Satisfaction
- Ensure right-first-time execution through inline, end-line, and final inspection strategies.
- Collaborate with design/technical teams on product development, PP samples, and fit approvals.
- Actively reduce DHU (Defects per Hundred Units), claims, and rework across units.
4. Continuous Improvement & Excellence
- Champion Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies to improve quality and efficiency.
- Implement digital quality tools, data dashboards, and analytics for real-time monitoring.
- Benchmark best practices from global apparel manufacturing to enhance quality competitiveness.
5. Leadership & People Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop senior quality managers, factory quality heads, and auditors.
- Build training frameworks for operators, line supervisors, and QA/QC teams.
- Foster a culture of quality ownership across all levels of the organization.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Textile Engineering, Garment Technology, or related field.
- 18-25 years of progressive experience in apparel quality management, with at least 8-10 years in senior role.
- Proven track record of managing quality across multiple large factories.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to influence senior stakeholders and buyers.
