Job Title: Senior Equity Research Analyst
Experience: 5-8 years (Buy-side Equity Research)
Location: Mumbai (or as per business requirement)
Role Overview:
The Senior Equity Research Analyst will be responsible for in-depth fundamental research, financial modeling, valuation, and generating actionable investment ideas for institutional clients. The role requires strong sector expertise, independent coverage responsibility, and frequent interaction with fund managers and corporate management.
Key Responsibilities:
Research & Analysis:
- Lead coverage of assigned sector(s) and companies with end-to-end ownership
- Build and maintain detailed financial models (3-statement, DCF, relative valuation)
- Analyze financial statements, annual reports, earnings releases, and industry data
- Track company performance, macro trends, regulatory changes, and competitive dynamics
Investment Recommendations:
- Generate buy/sell/hold recommendations backed by strong research rationale
- Prepare high-quality initiation, earnings update, thematic, and sector reports
- Identify alpha-generating ideas and differentiated investment insights
Client & Management Interaction:
- Conduct management meetings, earnings calls, plant visits, and analyst briefings
- Interact with institutional investors, fund managers, and internal sales teams
- Support client queries with timely, data-backed responses
Collaboration & Mentorship:
- Work closely with sales, dealing, and strategy teams
- Guide and mentor junior analysts / associates
- Ensure research output adheres to compliance and regulatory standards
Skills & Competencies:
Technical Skills:
- Strong expertise in financial modeling, valuation, and forecasting
- Deep understanding of equity markets, accounting standards, and capital markets
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Bloomberg / Refinitiv / Capital IQ
Analytical & Communication Skills:
- Excellent analytical thinking and attention to detail
- Strong written research report drafting skills
- Ability to present ideas clearly to senior stakeholders and clients
Behavioral Traits:
- High ownership mindset and independent thinking
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and market pressure
- Strong ethical standards and compliance awareness
Educational Qualifications:
- CA / CFA (Level II or III preferred) / MBA (Finance) / equivalent
- Strong academic background in finance, accounting, or economics
