Senior Data & AI Architect - Business Intelligence - IT

Role Summary:

Own the overall data, AI and BI architecture across platforms, pipelines, governance, security and scalability. Act as the technical conscience of the team: define standards, review designs and ensure we build reusable, enterprise-grade solutions rather than tactical reports.

Key Responsibilities:

- Define target architecture for data platforms, pipelines, cloud infrastructure, AI use cases and BI, covering security, scalability and cost.

- Set standards for data models, integration patterns, model governance and performance.

- Review solution designs across Data Engineering, BI, Analytics and AI workstreams.

- Decide, per use case, whether the solution needs BI, AI, automation or a combination.

- Mentor engineers and analysts so team capability compounds over time.

- Translate business goals into a scalable, secure technical architecture without over-engineering.

- Stay hands-on enough to unblock the team on hard technical problems, not just design on paper.

- Proactively flag technical debt and risk before it becomes a delivery issue.

- Push back on shortcuts that will hurt scalability.

- Mentor junior and fresher engineers.

Qualifications & Skills:

- 10+ years across data engineering, analytics platforms and solution architecture, with 3+ years in an architect or lead role.

- Depth in cloud data platforms (Azure preferred), data modelling, ETL/ELT, API integration and security.

- Working knowledge of modern AI/GenAI patterns (RAG, agents, model governance) and Power BI ecosystems.

- Track record of mentoring teams and governing delivery quality in a growing organisation.
