Role Overview High-impact buy-side role for independent, bottom-up credit research with primary focus on sovereign and quasi-sovereign credit, complemented by corporate and private credit analysis on a global basis. The analyst will deliver rigorous, independent research and actionable recommendations to the global investment committee, directly shaping positioning across sovereign bonds, corporate debt (IG & HY), and select private credit opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead in-depth sovereign & quasi-sovereign credit research: debt sustainability analysis (DSA), external liquidity, reserves adequacy, political risk overlays, IMF/World Bank program assessments, and default/restructuring scenarios
- Conduct fundamental corporate credit analysis globally - financial modeling, capital structure reviews, peer benchmarking, covenant analysis, and event-risk evaluation (M&A, refinancings, spin-offs)
- Evaluate private credit opportunities (direct lending, unitranche, mezzanine, distressed, special situations) - cash-flow modeling, recovery waterfalls, collateral valuation, and documentation review
- Build and maintain proprietary sovereign scoring models and integrated stress-testing
- Author high-conviction credit reports and present to global CIO/investment committee
- Drive ongoing surveillance of portfolio holdings with early warning triggers
- Stay ahead of global macro regimes, monetary policy divergence, geopolitical shocks, and legal/regulatory developments
Ideal Candidate:
- CA, MBA (Finance), or Master's in Economics from a top-tier institution; CFA/FRM a plus
- 5-10 years of buy-side or sell-side credit experience with a clear emphasis on sovereign/EM debt; additional exposure to global corporates and private credit a plus
- Advanced modeling skills (LBO, DCF, waterfall, sovereign DSA templates) and expert-level use of Bloomberg, Capital IQ, Intex, Moody's Analytics, Haver
- Deep knowledge of credit documentation (indentures, credit agreements, inter-creditor agreements) and restructuring dynamics
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills
- Intellectual curiosity, strong ownership mindset, and ability to thrive in a flat, fast-paced international team
