Position: Senior Consultant Generic Medicine:

Location: Kolkata, West Bengal (Hybrid / Consulting basis with periodic on-site presence)

Employment Type: Senior Consultant (Retainer / Contractual )

Reporting to: Head Pharma Operations / Leadership Team

Role Overview:

We are seeking a retired General Manager or senior leadership professional from a core pharmaceutical company (with proven expertise in generics) to serve as Senior Consultant Generic Medicine. The ideal candidate will bring deep industry knowledge to strengthen our JITO Quality Medicines vertical from strategic sourcing and quality governance to regulatory excellence and portfolio expansion.

This is a high-impact advisory role ideal for an experienced pharma leader looking to contribute to affordable healthcare in their post-retirement phase.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide strategic guidance for PAN India Generic Medicine operations, including business expansion, franchise development, and market penetration initiatives.

- Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard GMP-certified generic manufacturers and API suppliers.

- Develop and implement quality assurance frameworks, including vendor audits, batch release protocols, stability studies, pharmacovigilance systems, and deviation management processes.

- Ensure compliance with pharmaceutical regulations and standards including CDSCO, State Drug Control, Schedule M, WHO-GMP, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

- Support portfolio strategy through selection of high-demand generic molecules, bioequivalence considerations, and competitive positioning against branded medicines.

- Optimize procurement, inventory planning, and end-to-end supply chain operations to ensure cost efficiency, uninterrupted product availability, and storage compliance.

- Conduct operational risk assessments, quality reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing and distribution operations.

- Guide regional sales and operations teams to achieve business targets and improve market coverage across territories.

- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, vendors, pharmacy chains, healthcare institutions, and strategic business partners.

- Represent the organization in supplier negotiations, regulatory interactions, industry forums, and stakeholder meetings.

- Monitor sales performance, operational KPIs, and profitability to support sustainable business growth.

- Conduct branch visits, operational audits, and performance reviews across multiple locations.

- Mentor and train managers, sales teams, quality personnel, and operational staff on best practices in generics manufacturing and business operations.

- Assist management in developing long-term business strategies, expansion plans, and new business opportunities.

- Support recruitment, leadership development, and organizational capability-building initiatives.

- Prepare business reports, market analysis, MIS dashboards, and performance improvement recommendations for management review.

- Ensure adherence to company SOPs, quality standards, ethical business practices, and pharmaceutical regulatory guidelines.

Candidate Profile (Must-Have):

- Retired General Manager (GM) or equivalent senior leadership role (e.g., Head Generics, Head Operations, Head Quality, Head Regulatory, or Business Head) from a reputed core pharma company with a strong generics portfolio.

- Minimum 20+ years of hands-on experience in the Indian pharmaceutical industry, with significant exposure to generics development, manufacturing, QA/QC, and regulatory affairs.

- Proven track record in scaling generic product portfolios, cost optimization, and compliance with Indian and international regulatory bodies.

- Deep understanding of the Indian generics market, pricing dynamics, tender business, and institutional supply.

- Strong network within the pharma manufacturing and regulatory ecosystem.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

- Prior experience in USFDA, EU-GMP, or WHO pre-qualified facilities will be a distinct advantage.

- Exposure to digital pharmacy / e-health platforms or affordable medicine initiatives is desirable.

- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

- Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality strategic recommendations.
