Senior Associate - Healthcare Research (Biotech & Pharmaceuticals, Medical Professional) Medical degree must

Role Overview Rare opportunity for a physician-scientist with strong financial training to build and lead a specialist healthcare research team. The role combines deep clinical and scientific expertise with rigorous financial analysis to drive high-conviction investment decisions in global biotech & pharma companies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a focused research team covering biotech, specialty pharma, generics, CDMO, med-tech & diagnostics
- Perform scientific & clinical due diligence on drug pipelines (small molecules, biologics, cell & gene therapy, RNA platforms, etc.)
- Build and maintain proprietary valuation models (rNPV, DCF, sum-of-the-parts, probability-adjusted forecasts, PTRS frameworks)
- Author investment theses and event-driven updates (clinical data, regulatory milestones, M&A, IP events)
- Present and defend recommendations to CIO and investment committee
- Cultivate relationships with KOLs, company management, and sell-side analysts
- Identify early-stage private investment opportunities in the life-sciences ecosystem
Ideal Candidate:
- MD/MS (any specialty) OR M.Sc/PhD in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology or allied fields, familiarity with oncology/specialty drugs. AND Full-time MBA from Tier-1 institute OR CFA/CA
- 5-10 years total experience with at least 2-5 years in healthcare-focused equity research, investment banking, private equity, or venture capital (buy-side preferred)
- Physicians who have successfully transitioned into finance highly desired
- Proven expertise in interpreting clinical trial data, statistical endpoints (PFS, OS, ORR, p-values), and regulatory documents (IND, NDA/BLA filings, FDA/EMA briefing books).
- Hands-on experience building risk-adjusted NPV models and assessing probability of technical & regulatory success
- Outstanding communication skills - ability to distill complex science for non-medical investment professionals
