Role Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Senior Qualified Associate to join our Direct Tax practice in Mumbai. In this role, you will lead complex tax engagements, serving as a primary advisor to high-profile corporate clients while navigating the intricacies of domestic and international tax frameworks. You will work closely with cross-functional finance teams, senior leadership, and regulatory authorities to ensure seamless compliance and tax optimization. By providing high-level technical guidance and proactive planning, you will directly influence the financial health and risk mitigation strategies of our clients, ensuring they remain competitive and compliant in an ever-evolving regulatory landscape.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage end-to-end direct tax compliance and advisory mandates for a diverse portfolio of corporate clients to ensure adherence to statutory requirements and minimize tax exposure.

- Lead complex tax litigation and assessment proceedings, representing client interests before tax authorities to secure favorable outcomes and resolve disputes efficiently.

- Design and implement robust tax planning strategies for corporate restructuring, mergers, and acquisitions to optimize tax efficiency and support long-term business objectives.

- Oversee the preparation and review of intricate tax filings, including transfer pricing documentation and international tax disclosures, to maintain absolute accuracy and regulatory alignment.

- Mentor junior team members and provide technical oversight on tax research, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, value-added insights to stakeholders.

Required Skillset:

- Possess deep technical expertise in the Income Tax Act, with a proven ability to interpret and apply complex tax laws to real-world corporate finance scenarios.

- Demonstrate advanced proficiency in international taxation, including DTAA applications, cross-border transaction structuring, and base erosion and profit shifting (BEPS) frameworks.

- Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable strategic recommendations for senior management.

- Maintain excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling you to build lasting relationships with clients and negotiate effectively with tax authorities.

- Hold a Chartered Accountant (CA) qualification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) with 4 - 10 years of post-qualification experience in a professional services or corporate tax environment.

- Thrive in a fast-paced, on-site work environment in Mumbai, demonstrating the agility to manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.
