Role : Senior Analyst - Merchant Banking - Portfolio Management

Role Overview :

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Analyst with 5-10 years of relevant experience to join our Merchant Banking team in Mumbai. This pivotal role involves the day-to-day management and strategic oversight of a diverse portfolio of alternative investments, ensuring optimal performance and risk mitigation.

The Senior Analyst will be instrumental in conducting rigorous financial analysis, performing in-depth due diligence on potential investment opportunities, and continuously monitoring the performance of existing assets. You will collaborate closely with internal investment teams, engage with external fund managers, and interact directly with high-net-worth clients and institutional investors, providing critical insights and fostering strong relationships. This role directly impacts our firm's investment performance, contributes significantly to client wealth creation, and drives the strategic growth of our merchant banking division.

Key Responsibilities :

- Conduct in-depth financial modeling and due diligence for potential alternative investments, presenting comprehensive findings to investment committees to inform strategic allocation decisions.

- Continuously monitor the performance and risk profile of a diverse portfolio of merchant banking assets, implementing rebalancing strategies to optimize returns and align with client mandates.

- Construct sophisticated financial models for valuation, forecasting, and scenario analysis, providing critical insights for investment decisions and portfolio stress testing.

- Generate comprehensive performance reports and investment summaries for high-net-worth clients and institutional investors, ensuring transparent communication and fostering strong client relationships.

- Leverage SQL and other analytical tools to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets, identifying trends and insights to enhance portfolio management strategies and reporting efficiency.

- Assist in the structuring and execution of new investment transactions, collaborating with legal and internal teams to ensure seamless deal closure and compliance with regulatory requirements.

- Proactively identify market trends and emerging investment opportunities within the alternative investment landscape, contributing to the firm's strategic positioning and growth.

Required Skillset :

- Demonstrated ability to perform rigorous financial analysis, valuation, and complex financial modeling, particularly within alternative investment and merchant banking contexts.

- Proven capability in managing and optimizing diverse investment portfolios, including risk assessment, performance attribution, and strategic asset allocation.

- Advanced command of SQL for data extraction and analysis, coupled with strong proficiency in Excel for financial modeling and reporting.

- Exceptional communication and presentation skills for conveying complex financial concepts to both internal stakeholders and sophisticated clients, alongside robust written communication for reports and proposals.

- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a capacity to identify market trends, evaluate investment opportunities, and contribute to strategic decision-making in a dynamic financial environment.

- A Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration (MBA), or a related quantitative field from a premier institution is highly preferred, coupled with relevant certifications like CFA.

- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment in Mumbai, working effectively with cross-functional teams and adapting to evolving market conditions.
