
- We are seeking an experienced Senior Account Manager - Commercial Underwriter to manage a portfolio of SME and large corporate clients within the commercial insurance segment.
- The role combines technical underwriting expertise with client-facing account management responsibilities, ensuring effective risk evaluation, policy structuring, pricing, and long-term customer relationship management.
- The candidate will manage the complete lifecycle of commercial insurance policies, from underwriting and policy issuance to renewals and portfolio profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Portfolio & Account Management
- Manage a portfolio of SME and large corporate clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, brokers, and partners.
- Provide proactive client support and ensure high service standards.
- Drive client retention and account growth.
2. Commercial Underwriting
- Evaluate commercial risks and credit exposures.
- Structure policies including terms, pricing, and risk coverage.
- Ensure underwriting decisions align with profitability and risk appetite.
- Monitor portfolio performance and adjust strategies where necessary.
3. Policy Lifecycle Management
Manage end-to-end policy operations, including:
- Policy setup in systems
- Policy issuance and documentation
- Policy renewals
- Compliance and regulatory checks
4. Client & Broker Relationship Management
- Conduct regular client and broker meetings.
- Address service requirements and resolve issues.
- Strengthen long-term partnerships to maximize portfolio value.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with claims, risk services, and internal underwriting teams.
- Ensure smooth policy execution and effective claims handling.
6. Business Retention & Profitability
- Focus on customer retention and portfolio profitability.
- Identify opportunities for additional coverage or services within existing accounts.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 12+ years of experience in the insurance industry
- Strong experience in commercial underwriting
- Experience managing SME and large corporate accounts
- Exposure to client servicing and account management roles
- Experience working with insurance brokers and partners
- Strong understanding of risk assessment, pricing models, and policy structuring
- Ability to operate in techno-marketing roles (technical underwriting + client interaction)
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Willingness to travel for client meetings
