
Position: Sector Head (WASH)
Location: Mumbai
Experience: 15+ Years
Qualification: Master's Degree in Civil Engineering / Environmental Engineering / Water Resources / Public Health Engineering or equivalent (MBA/Management qualification will be preferred)
Role Overview:
The Sector Head WASH will lead the overall Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) practice, providing strategic, technical and operational leadership for the sector domestically & internationally. The role involves driving sector excellence & growth, overseeing project delivery, mentoring multidisciplinary teams, strengthening client relationships, and ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of developments in the WASH sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and strengthen the overall WASH practice, defining the sector's strategic direction and growth roadmap (domestically & internationally).
- Provide technical leadership and oversight across all WASH projects, ensuring quality, timely delivery and adherence to best practices.
- Monitor project performance, resolve critical technical issues and support project teams in successful execution.
- Stay abreast of emerging policies, technologies, funding programs and industry trends to identify new opportunities and enhance organizational capabilities.
- Drive the Business Development by tracking sector insights and client engagement.
- Build and mentor a high-performing technical team, driving capability development and knowledge sharing.
- Represent the organization in high-level meetings, conferences and interactions with government agencies, clients and development partners.
- Develop thought leadership through white papers, technical publications, knowledge notes and industry presentations, positioning the organization as a leading consulting firm in the WASH sector.
- Promote innovation, standardization and continuous improvement across the WASH practice.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH) sector, preferably with leading infrastructure consulting firms.
- Proven experience in leading multidisciplinary teams and managing large consulting assignments involving DPRs, PMC, design, technical advisory or project management.
- Strong technical expertise in water supply, sewerage, sanitation, wastewater management, urban/rural water infrastructure and related sectors.
- Well-versed with Government programmes such as Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), AMRUT, SBM and multilateral-funded projects.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to build client confidence, provide strategic direction and drive organizational excellence.
